Keystone Cougar RBS 26 - TV

Hello,

We pickedup our brand new trailer 5/28/2021.
Started our camping season last week...and we are getting alot of background out of our Summit 40" TV. Has anyone had this happen to their tv....and possibly know of a solution? We were thinking about hooking up a sound bar to the TV and not sure where to put it either...in front or behind?

Thank you,
Chip and Carla

Looked at pictures of your camper and it appears the speakers are mounted in the facia below the television. Not sure what "background" means but I have a soundbar and would suggest mounting outside the television; in your case probably atop the fireplace enclosure.

If you are getting a popping or other "noise " in the audio then a sound bar may just amplify the noise. The TV may have a defective circuit that may pass that thru to the sound bar. Are you currently listening to the TV thru the stereo or the tv? If you are using the stereo then turn it off and see if you have the issue with just the TV. The OEM tvs aren't know for being a "high quality" brands.

We have the same trailer... 2021 Cougar 26RBS... The Summit TV is a cheap tv with poor sound quality... We removed it and replaced it with a Samsung... Much better TV with good sound and also comes with the Samsung internet TV channel... :-)

Looking at the Keystone website 3D walk thru it looks like you have the Summit TV and ceiling mounted speakers - correct? I cannot tell the brand of the receiver in the panel below the TV. Some things about RV TVs and sound systems....they're lowest bid junk.

I've not had a Summit TV but I had a Furrion in this trailer. It came out at purchase - it sounded horrible and probably much like you describe. I put in a Vizio. I wanted a Samsung but could not find one in our size that had 3 HDMI ports. I also changed the speakers to JBLs vs the junk that came OE. The ultimate solution was a Polk soundbar with wireless sub. I just pulled the TV out and placed the soundbar on the shelf lip directly behind the TV. It sits there all the time. For travel I just push the TV back against it, tighten the security strap and take off. Hasn't posed a problem of any kind in several thousand miles of roaming.

Edit: Just looked at a video of the trailer and it appears you have a very similar space behind the TV for a sound bar.
