Good Sam Travel Assist
Has anyone actually used Good Sam Travel Assist? I'm NOT asking about their roadside assistance program but rather a separate program call Travel Assist. It is to provide assistance if someone has a medical problem while traveling and needs help getting themselves and/or their RV back home. They say they will provide a driver to take it home or assistance if you need a relative to come help. They supposedly provide financial and logistical assistance. The fee is $80 to $100 per year as I recall. We carry the coverage for peace of mind as my wife can't drive the rig. I'm just wondering if anyone used it and did they do as promised.

Rather than the GS Travel Assist take a look at the program that is included in a FMCA membership. It's the whole reason I joined the FMCA.
I wouldn't trust the Good Sam program and I am a Life Good Sam member.

Doesn't FMCA require that you own a motor home? I have a fifth wheel camper.

I'm not part of FMCA and not very familiar. I will also say that I am a life Member of Good Sam. I've not used the Travel Assist although I have it and hope I never have to. I've never had any problems with anything I've tried to use with Good Sam other than them finding someone to fix a flat on the side of the road....so did Geico, Ram and one other one I have.
Good Sam has about 3 - 10 times the members of FMCA from the numbers I can find and I don't particularly, for me, need all the "comraderie" that they say they provide. So in the end as always it's about what fits as Customer1 alluded to. I believe I read that FMCA started allowing towables in 2017.

Thanks Danny, I didn't know about the towables. I tend to agree about needing the other things they offer. I know of all the negative of Good Sam and camping world but these services are contracted with other companies and not actually run by camping world staff. I've not heard of any negative regarding the travel program but not heard of a lot of usage either. I, too, hope I never need it but it is great peace-of-mind for my wife.

Woody I try to carry most anything/everything I think might come in handy some day and hope I never have to use them. Since you're in TX have you ever looked at AirMedCare? Don't know if they operate in your area but have good coverage in the general areas we go and I've been a member for years. It's another one I hope I don't have to use but could come in handy in a dire circumstance - just throwing that out there.

I don't think we have AirMedCare but I know what you mean about coverage. We do have other air ambulance coverage here.

Nope, FMCA opened up to towables a year or two ago.
