It’s actually 31’ 4”, that is what you need to tell the RV park.

Which is it?

It's crazy how they label these. If only there was a way to get the correct answer:

Decipher RV IDENTIFICATION TAG

Well the bulk of the question i.e. is a 275 actually 27ft long has been answered. I too have in the past wondered and one explanation given (not verified) is that the 27 in the 275 ID is actually the length of the box not the pin to bumper. So if you add the overhang (on a 5th wheel) you then get the true length i.e. 31.5 ft. of the entire unit. Sounds reasonable but certainly not verified. Now on my part I wonder if anyone can answer this question. We have a COUGAR 327RES are are told that ID Tag denotes R (rear) E (entertainment) S (slide) We recently purchased a second 5th wheel for travel purposes a 2005 COUGAR 285 EFS. Does anyone know what the EFS stands for? Its has a slide (S) but the EF has us stumped. No one has yet to be able to to figure this out.

The EFS means it is old. I have a 278EFS and mine has a rear kitchen. Trying to make sense of model designations is ESSENTIALLY FUTILE SITUATION.

Just a WAG:

285EFS Extra Freaking Special bigger than the 284 and smaller than the 286...

That said, Possibly: 285 (size in the entire series of numbers in that year's lineup) with EF (entertainment in front of the ) S (slide)....

This and read the specs for length, it isn’t rocket science. Our Copper Canyon is a 293 FWSLS, it is 32’ long. The best I came up with was square footage with slides out.

The new "mandate", if you can call it that, will be useful.

Model number means squat. Our previous TT was a Zinger 32QB (quad bunk?) and was 33'-10" tongue to bumper. Crossroads also had a 30KB (kitchen bunk?), which was EXACT same trailer but with the outdoor kitchen instead of 4 bunks.

I think the 2021 model is now called a 30QB, so still meaningless...

I have found that the brochure lengths are reasonably accurate - both my Cougar and the previous Zinger actually matched brochure when measured.

“ We need our parks to employ public employees again.”
Yes, then we would get really first class service like with the post office service and delivery. Those non-public employees like FedEx and UPS could use some of the postal employees to show them the way!
Just what in the hell am I saying??? I must have lost my freaking mind!!!!!

Just a "postulation":

If model numbers should mean the same as length of model, then shouldn't truck numbers mean something too???

Should F250 mean the same as 2500 ? Or is the 2500 "10 x the 250" ??

Is a F350 a F250 + 100 or is it the "next step up in model numbering" ??

How is 250 or 2500 equal to 3/4 ton and 350 or 3500 equal to 1 ton, when the minimum payload far surpasses that amount, both is vehicle weight and in cargo capacity in all but a very select few exceptions (if any)...

Now, if we move to the "half ton category" do we start with trucks or with trailers?? Or do we just ignore that model numbers/model names have no "required relationship" to model performance, characteristics, weights, lengths or floorplans.....

I'd "postulate" that there's no required correlation between names and sizes and relates more to marketing than to consumer expectations for size, weight or capability... After all, what is the difference between X-lite and Ultra-lite (except the inclusion of possibly more "helium technology").....

I read somewhere that the number in the model number is the inside length, and doesn't account for the length of the hitch.
This is my understanding also.

Yikes!! My 3731FL sure feels smaller than it really is.

Inside length is interesting, but my 32BHS 5er is certainly longer than 32ft inside...
