Black and Gray Tank Valve Switched?
We just emptied the tanks on our new 2019 Cougar 27SAB, and based on how they drained and using the black tank flush, we think the labels on the black and gray tank may be reversed. Is there another way to tell which valve is attached to which tank?
Thank you!

The easiest way I can think of is to start with both tanks empty. Run some water in the kitchen sink, check to see which valve it empties from. Then do the same with the toilet. It should empty from the other valve. Mistakes sometimes happen at the factory. If you want to be really sure repeat for the bathroom sink and shower. They should drain from the same valve as the kitchen sink, assuming you have only one gray tank.

Add water to one at a time and test.

It seems they like to put the labels on the wrong positions. I read about it all the time here. My trailer was the same way. I complained about it during the warranty check-up, but they wouldn't fix it.

Once you determine which valve handle drains a particular tank, a label maker or a Sharpie can easily fix the problem without having to drag the rig back to the dealer.

Actually, you can usually determine this visually. The blank tank handle is usually attached to a large bore pipe; the gray tank handle is usually attached to a much smaller bore pipe.

In my current Alpine the Gray 1 and Black tanks had the tags switched when we bought it.

I highly recommend testing, as previous identified, all your valves and their relationship to each tank. These drains gets more confusing if you have a second bath, wash machine, etc. Can save problems down the road

Mine were 180 out of phase from the factory. Have one of those clear extensions before putting on the hose. First time I dumped the black tank I’m thinking............what exactly did I have to eat the last couple days. Perfect example of the term “ass backwards”.
