Why two (2) refrigerators?

Why is Keystone starting to put two small refrigerators in, instead of one big one?

What units? I’ve seen 2 full size in outbacks.

I noticed that too about the two small refrigerators. I think Norcold had a lot of issues with the 4dr 18 cu. ft. models so the manufactures opted for the two smaller ones. They do offer a lot of flexibility, one for Beer the other for the DW.

Concur with Frank on the 2118 issues, common complaint is it doesnt cool as well if on a slide out (need upper exhaust fans!). My cooling unit ruptured on the last day of warranty and my buds unit in a Momentum needed replacement internal fans in the first month. Hopefully they got it sorted by now.

I have seen a lot of reports of issues with the 18 cu. ft Dometic OR Norcold units from GD users (that is a very common fridge size/model that GD uses). Part of why I was glad to have a residential unit that is a little more straight forward to operate. Knowing that these options existed, I did find it odd that Keystone opted for the dual 7 cu.ft design in the Laredos, Sprinters, and Outbacks but it may make more sense now. Unusual for Keystone to be ahead of GD on something that impacts quality and user experience.

In laws have the outback with 2 single door fridge. We did the computer fan mod on both.

One reason likewise I went with Res fridge in ours is the problems with the double door. If 2 dual fuel Norcolds was an option on mine, I would have seriously considered it. The whole fridge in slide issue is big.

We have the Norcold 2118 and so far it’s been great. Just to be clear it’s great for an RV fridge - you know - “get in/get out quick and don’t put warm/hot foods inside, etc. It performs as well as any other RV fridge I’ve used since I was a kid

Just curious, how long can residential refrigerators run on the inverter? I assume it will run while connected to the TV, but what about when you stop at overnight rest areas, etc.? I assume boondocking is out??

My Norcold 1210 gave us plenty of disturbing issue's last winter in desert. Decided to go with Amish unit cooling unit in it. "Big" difference in operation now. Actually freezes ice cream hard and fridge unit maintains 34-36 degrees on #2 setting. Amish again seen a problem they could resolve and did it. Mine is located in the slide in a Fuzion #345. Unit was less than a year old. If it gives me a hint of issue's I'm going residential next lap.

The only thing from the factory connected to the inverter is the Res Fridge. It will run 1 night no problems with minimal battery bank.

Last year I went 4 days dry camping with turning it off at night and running the gen a bit to watch a movie we also packed ice blocks in the fridge. We had never had a tea fridge before and didn’t know what to expect..

I only had 100 ah of juice. So really only 50.. the whole trailer was connected to those batteries

I just jumped up (2) 6 volts (210 ah) just for the fridge. Nothing else runs off them. I’m headed out soon for another 4 day dry camp. I’ll be watching the battery monitor for sure

I’m going to keep the VictronConnect battery monitor close by so I can get an idea of the draw from the fridge.
