Went for a ride today

Went for a ride today to test out New 5th airborne sidewinder pin box and 16k fifth wheel. everything went well my Ram 1500 limited with 5.7 Hemi rode real nice. It pull the fifth wheel without a problem. I know its a half ton but it has the air ride an we mostly camp in central Minn.

I'm glad things went well - they might not the next time.

I suppose you know the limitations of a 1/2 ton but, if loaded, you have about 2k lbs. of pin weight in your truck; which will exceed your payload considerably...then there are the people etc. that must be in the truck. I truly hope you have replaced the OEM tires. Air suspension does nothing to help your truck "support" the weight (ie; increase payload) it just helps level it.

I got rid of my 1/2 ton Ram because I was 200 over payload with a 10k "travel trailer" - you have a fiver so that load increased dramatically in the truck. Just so you are aware.

Was this troll post? 16K with a 1/2T?

I believe OP made a typo. Trailer has 10k GVWR with 1515 dry pin weight. Which is still most likely pushing his RGAWR by the time you add a hitch in the bed.

Agree looks like a typo, 10K GVWR on 2017 Cougar 28rks.
Dry Weight 8,170 lbs.
Payload Capacity 1,830 lbs.
GVWR 10,000 lbs.
Hitch Weight (Dry) 1,415 lbs.

I agree that the OP should head for the scales and be sure it has enough tire on his rear axle.

Looks like the link is to a 2018 and OP has 2017. Here is that link;

Pretty much irrelevant. Trailer is way over the truck's margins IMO.
