Yep, more Noob ?'s - Waste lines

So, the dealer gave us a 15' collapsible waste line. It seems to be good quality, but it won't reach our dump site, which is on the other side of the pad. Nearest RV shop is 100 miles or so. Does Walmart (40 miles) or BiMart (local) carry this sort of thing? How long a line do you carry? Are there some short extenders? We're about 3' short.

How do you manage storage and handling of it? We found the caddy at the back of our unit... it's all busted up. Both lids are broken and the tube is cracked. I might be able to get the 15' line in, but I don't think it would hold a longer line in any event.

Walmart typically sells the dump hoses. I don't know what "caddy" your referencing. The rear bumper can hold the hose but I'd advise against it as they tend to rust inside and will eventually tear the hose or put pin pricked holes in it. Search hose storage and you'll see how folks make or buy devices to store the hoses.

Get a box of disposable gloves and some hand sanitizer for handling the hose and a non-drinking hose (gray or green in color, not white) to rinse out the hose.. Drain the black water tank first, then the gray. Then connect the non-drinking water hose and rinse the inside before disconnecting and storing it away.

Thanks! I'll run to town and get some more hose, and I Google the storage.

The caddy it came equipped with is something like this, but not adjustable. Probably about 60". Plastic. Mounted at the rear.

5" or 6" vinyl fence posts make good storage tubes also.

I carry a 20'? and 15'? in the bumper on mine. It shows no sign of rust but I see how it could. I have however had to replace one due to pin holes worn in it from riding in the bumper. You might use it to store both hoses until you can get a new one purchased or fabricated. Don't know your situation but if you are just 3' off can you move the trailer? Get the clear attachment that attaches to the big drain tube coming out of the trailer so you can see what's going on when dumping.

Edit: I believe mine are Rhino brand from Walmart.

That's a "hose carrier". They typically work well. Lot's of folks make their own with a 5" square vinyl post cover with a rain gutter inside of it to act as a tray to hold the hose. Either should hold one long hose and one extension, typically 15' and a 5' (those are measurements when hose is stretched to it's max). Also pick up a tote with a lid to hold the hose 90 and any other fittings that you'll end up with.

Thanks guys! I went into town and found some hose at BiMart. Got some repair tape and will try to salvage the existing hose carrier. May add a vinyl fence post for additional room, if needed, but I'll see if this will cram in the existing unit first.

I did find plenty of ideas on YouTube. Seems pretty straight forward.

If you have Rhino they have large fittings for connecting to the part that goes in the drain and for hooking onto the dump valve on the trailer. How do you get those large hunks of plastic stuffed into your bumper? I carry my stinky slinkies in an industrial trash bag tied up and put in a large plastic box. The water hose is in another box so they don't make friends with each other when traveling.

George, they are brown hoses and orange ends which I believe is Rhino. The ends have to be turned exactly right; the end with the 90 degree connection for the sewer connection and the end that connects to the trailer each have ridges around the connecting piece that goes onto the hose. If they aren't oriented just right they will not go into the bumper, but they do perfectly.

Well, this rear bumper isn't gonna carry anything. Way too small. But I did remove, repair and reinstall the hose carrier. I'll use a plastic bin for the additional fittings, and try to keep that up with the batteries, or something like that. Or maybe mount a box near the hose carrier.

I carry 2 10’ rhino hoses and have a 3’ rhino for my blue tank. I’d also keep the 15’ just in case. The rhino hose is a heavy duty hose not subject to leakage.

Tried the plastic tubs, can get pretty nasty odours out of there. Installed the fence post carrier. Large enough to store the fittings in as well.

the Rhino ones are squares off on the fittings to just fit inside the bumper, although my bumper has a slight indent at one spot so it's tight. In the spring, I am buying the vinyl fence post and mounting it underneath the bumper or rig.
