Insect screen attachment

I like using the coarse mesh bug screens but don't trust the little mounting springs (which are the devil to install!)
I now mount them with stainless steel wire. Cut a piece six inches or so in length. Loop it around the inlet grill you are covering, give it a twist to hold in place and the pass the two wire legs through the mesh screen. Pull the wire snug and give it several twists to secure, leaving it a bit long. Snip off the extra wire and bend the twisted pigtail back into the mesh so that the sharp ends are not sticking out to scratch you up. I ordered the wire from Amazon.
Sorry about the rotated images.

Those springs are a hoot! Be sure and use the little tool. A bit of advice from recent experience; I installed those guys on my trailer last year. Never had a problem with insects but wanted to avoid them. This year the wire mesh I installed over the furnace exhaust caused the high limit switch to activate repeatedly after it got hot. Seems unbelievable but just that small amount of restriction caused it to happen. Removed the screen and haven't had a minutes trouble since. We do have a 35k furnace so that may be part of the issue. Just a heads up.
