Batteries

I was looking at replacing the battery on my camper. It's a 2017 Cougar 28rks 5th wheel. I found a Renogy 12 volt Deep Cycle 100ah hybrid gel battery for $249.00 at Home Depot. It does not have any cca so I think this is a true Deep Cycle battery. Has anyone heard of this battery or use this battery. Any feed back on this would be helpful. Thanks DDG.

For $200 you could get 2, 6vdc batteries and have 200ah of storage. The Renogy battery is probably a good battery based on the Renogy reputation for solar systems. Pretty sure the battery is not manufactured by Renogy though.
We just upgraded to the 6vdc from 12vdc and couldn't be more pleased with the result.

Renogy has that same battery on sale for 237. I wonder though if there is any benefit? I did read a complaint that a warranty was denied because the individual used the wrong charger on the battery. Plus, from what I read that battery has approx. 750 recharges after being discharged to 50% (they recommend to not go below 50% charge). In comparison an Interstate SRM 24 deep cycle hybrid is rated at 1000 recharges to the same rate. The Renogy is 100AH, the Interstate is 81.

So for the price, the hassle (charging) I'm not seeing any real benefit other than mtce free...but that seems to come at a cost to me. Depending on your needs/use I'm don't see that you gain anything. If you boondock a lot the dual 6v sounds better I think.

Thanks, for the reply I don't boondock. So I will look at a Interstate battery. Thanks DDG.

IMO I would install dual 12vdc Interstates and forget the costly Renogy. Jmo
