Montana and High Country
What are the differences in the 2 Montana models? What makes High County different?

In a nutshell the High Country is the economy model of the Montana. It's lighter (that's why I have one) and that comes at the price of the components used - primarily interior foo fahs, trim etc. Appliances are the same; no central vacuum and stuff like that. On the smaller units the frame is a tad smaller (think weight). The MHC came with Ranier tires and I believe I saw Sailuns on the Montanas.
When you walk inside the Montana you will tell the difference in look and feel as you push, pull, touch everything. Primary considerations for a Montana, for me, are the fact that any of them require a diesel (IMO) and most need a dually. Both requirements put me in the MHC. There's also the price consideration; currently from what I can tell they are asking about a 20k premium for the Montana - that's a lot of foo fahs for a "camper".

You might go to the Keystone website (keystonerv.com), in trailer type pick 5th wheels then open up the Montana then the MHC tabs. On the right there will be boxes you can expand that will show the various packages, features etc. Read the descriptions closely and compare; you will see some of the more significant differences.

The main differences I see are that the Montana has mainly hydraulic slides and leveling and the High Country has cable slides and electric leveling.
I don't think the frames are different but I could be wrong.
The difference in weight between my Montana High Country 384br and the comparable model in the Montana is negligible so there can't be too much difference.

Montana is the top of the line. Montana High Country is the knock-off line and about $20,000 less. But $20,000 less is not bad. Both are beautiful units.
FYI, mine has the 12 inch frame.

The Montana line is classified as Luxury and all models have a 12" I-beam frame. https://www.keystonerv.com/fifth-whe...tures-options/
The Montana High Country is classified as a Comfort, full profile and there are two frame sizes, 10" (305, 310, 320, 321, 344, 345, 330, 331) and 12" (362, 364, 365, 372, 373, 374, 375, 380, 381, 384, 385). https://www.keystonerv.com/fifth-whe...tures-options/
There are numerous differences, from 60 amp converter (HC) vs 75 amp in the Montana to "free hanging rear wall" (HC) vs laminated rear wall in the Montana. Full body paint is an option on the Montana, not available on the HC.
You can go to the Keystone website and either compare the two at each web page or print out the "Features and Options" section of each brand and then "check of the similarities, leaving the differences to more easily view.

No, they both have 50 amp shore power connections... The Montana has a 75 amp converter while the Montana HC has a 60 amp converter.

Have NEVER seen nor heard of ANY rv being 75 amp & not sure where you'd plug it in or with what if there were such an animal.
A 75 amp converter for charging the batteries & to power other 12 volt items when connected to "50 amp" shore power I have heard of.

Simple answer, the 50A power cord carries enough juice to power a either a 60A or 75A converter and the 60A is cheaper, thus used in a lower line camper and will have less AC breaker slots I guess.

I spent the last two days doing research on two comparable models, the Montana 3854BR and the Montana High Country 384. Both are oustanding. its pretty incredible how much more "stuff" the Montana has on it though, not even counting the nicer affurnishments. There are tons of built ins, outside sink in the kitchen, hydraulic vs electric levelers, thomas paine chairs, better tvs, bigger fireplace, built in for tvs in the master with the TV, better applicances, the list goes on. They are definitely doing more than just slapping lipstick on it. I also forgot a huge difference, G rated tires vs Trailer King takoffs and Frameless windows on the Montana! I am starting to think after the discount off MSRP the upgrades are worth every penny.

We sell both on our lot, and best way to describe the difference is HC is a lower trim level Montana. You will notice many differences, most of which have been outlined in other posts. Counter tops, closet finish, ceiling finish, crown molding, base boards high gloss exterior finish, double awnings in most models, and the list goes on. Montana is also available with legacy package which includes rear observation and side cameras, power cord real, in-command, gen prep, disc brakes and a few other items. The main question is simply, are the differences important enough for you to pay the extra $15-20k. That’s something only you can decide.

Be sure and look through those differences closely. We spent 2 months comparing Montana, MHC and GD Solitude. Appliance "upgrades" are more "lipstick" to us than anything. The biggest difference was the convection microwave, but since we've never had, or wanted, one it was just more "foo fah". Larger fireplace meant nothing since the btu output of both was the same as I recall, and, now that they've made the fireplace "look" like a light show vs an actual fireplace we didn't want anything larger. Hydraulic vs electric leveling - I opted on the electric because I don't want the issue of leaking hydraulics or pumps. Our trailer came with Ranier LRF tires which were upgraded to LRG Sailuns on the lot. Ours came with Thomas Paine furniture as well but I'm not sure that says much - we've had that before. Interior does have nicer appointments including lots of "accent" lighting. To me that is more "foo fah".
In the end the Montana has nicer appointments and more foo fahs than the MHC but for a 20k premium I could not see it. Others do I know and fully understand that. They are both nice whatever you choose. Now, I've not got to see the Legacy package but disc brakes alone might.....might, move my "like meter". Whatever you choose I hope you love it and enjoy it immensely.

Dumb thing, the frameless windows you can get on the HC, but i havent seen a single one on the lot with them. This, for some reason is really important to me as i had them on the cougar and they dont streak and they look better. I probably dont have the luxury of time to place an order on one since our trailer is gone tomorrow.

If you want frameless windows, consider looking at the Alpine. It’s normally priced between the Montana and the HC, but gives you the frameless windows and hydraulic leveling, which I prefer over the electric because of the range. Electric leveling systems often get an out of stroke error which means the Jack has gone as far as it can, but your not level yet. It’s common to have to add blocks under the jacks especially if you do much dry camping in national forests instead of a close to level RV site. I personally love my Alpine and also really like the Avalanche which is the Alpine equivalent of a Montana HC, basically fewer bells and whistles than the Alpine.

We had frameless windows on our last trailer. We did not want them on our next trailer. Streaking has nothing to do with the windows, it will be with how you wash/clean them. We have had the frameless; look better? I thought so at first but in the end, not so much. Frameless is for "looks", not functionality. Look at the windows and the airflow they permit vs the regular windows. Many, many things to look at and consider; I look at functionality vs cost, bang for the buck etc. Bling has lost it's "luster" long ago.
