2022 Montana toilet replacement-HELP

Help, we just got our 2022 Montana HC 295RL home. Found out I need a new toilet as this one isn't made for my dainty frame- 6'/230 lbs. I'm going to hurt myself if I'm not careful and in the middle of the night (old, fat & cripple) I'm pretty clumsy. Anybody ever change out a toilet lid or even a larger toilet. My old 2013 Mountaineer was fine so I didn't notice this issue right away. Not that it was really going to change our purchase anyway. Love the big living room.

Thought I'd ask here first and then check after market sources. Actual users are always better than sales people.

Any suggestions?

Jack

I would suggest a Dometic 320 as a replacement, if it will fit. They have an elongated bowl that fits men’s plumbing better. This is what we have and love it, I am kind to my wife and the bathroom walls and sit when I pee, so there is no splash or spatter.
The 310 and 320 stand taller than standard toilets.

I am also 6’ and 230# still fairly agile and have no issues with this toilet.

Your RV came with a Thetford AquaMagicII I'm sure. If it doesn't work for you then you need to move to a much better toilet....a Dometic.

Your floorplan seems to indicate you could install either a Dometic 310 or 320. 310 is a round bowl without an upper bowl rim, the 320 has a rimmed top and is oval shaped. From memory; the cutouts for a 310 is 10" from the back wall and 11" for the 320.

Your trailer should be a perfect candidate for a new toilet from what I can see on the floorplan.

Ahhh, the ol' Aqua Magic. Like sitting on a bucket! Have a 320 now; elongated and got the tall model. Mucho better!!!

Great replies; thanks guys. A 320 is in my future. I'll get the specs ASAP and verify the available space. Russ, my night time adventures are all sitting as well- no lights so I don't wake the boss.
Thanks again

The 320 Dometic and a homemade 4" aluminum spacer on the floor. Raised the toilet to a very comfortable height for my old tired joints.

Another vote for the 320. Our last three have had the 320 and they are just fine.
I'm afraid the other guys in the park would make me turn in my man-card if I told them I had to sit down to pee. Ain't gonna happen!

320 has been ordered; if anyone needs a new 310, that is what I'll be removing. Half price and possible help with delivery. Hate to throw it out.

Jim, we do what we have to for the boss.

Jack - I might take you up on that offer. Is it the 18" height model? I'll need to take some measurements tonight, we have a Passport 221 ML with the plastic Dometic 300 and it is NOISY when you sit on it. Shipping would be to Eastern, PA.

Gkri, I have a 22 passport 221BH and am interested in upgrading to a 310 from 300. The specs say you need 10 inches from the wall on the 310. I measure 9.25 from the wall to the center of the bolts. I would be like to know if yours has 9.25 and if the 310 fits ok. Thanks

+1 on the Dometic 320. We changed out a 300 model for the 320 and it's been one of the best mods we've done to our Everest. Just make sure you have the right wall clearance (it seems you do), and check the floor flange. You may have to switch that out if it isn't compatible with the Dometic toilet base.

Dometic 310

Just replaced a Thetford Aqua Magic in our Outback 330 RL with the Dometic 310, 18 in to top of seat. Nothing but problems with the Thetford. Change was simple. Turn off pex valve that I had installed previously. Unhook water line. Remove nuts from flange. Pull off old toilet, no water to leak all over like residential. Inspect flange and seal. Set new toilet on flange. Tighten, hook up water line and good to go. Love our new throne except it does make a somewhat loud noise when pedal is pushed and when released. Not so nice in the middle of the night.

Toilet

That’s the first thing I replaced on my Raptor 300mp. I got a new toilet made by Dometic. It’s 2” taller and has a elongated bowl and it’s porcelain. I am 6’ 5” 220 and it’s comfortable. Cost was about 300 bucks

Thetford vs dometic.

domestic. Plastic toilets have to go. No questions asked. On trailer I had had a hand flush. Hated that. I have installed a few domestic toilets and was happy with them, but my current trailer has thetford toilets that are ceramic. I like them better than the domestics for 2 reasons. First the large round bowls are actually more comfortable than the elongated domestics. I am over 200 lbs myself, so I do have an ample rear end. Second, I recently had a leak in one of the toilets and was able to buy a lower half of the unit at an affordable price as opposed to replacing the whole unit. I am not sure of the model of these toilets, but I have been suitably impressed and won't go back to dometic.

Selling a used toilet (choke)? I am flabbergasted not to say "not a customer".

You must be one of those people then that never use a public restroom because those are very used toilets.

I have sold two used Dometic toilets.

I sold the 300 that came in my 21FBRS when I installed a 320. Which went with that camper when we sold it.

When we got the 2205s, I pulled the 310 and put in a 320. And we sold the 310.

Our 26RBS came with a 310, which I took out, put it on the 2205s, and have the 320 in our Cougar.

Both commodes that we sold were thoroughly cleaned and the buyers were happy to get them. It’s all about preparation.
