2019 Hideout 178LHS Mystery Switch

We just purchased a 2019 Hideout 178LHS and are trying to figure out what one of the switches controls. We were told the switches were for “the lights”.

Just inside the door are the switch for the power awning and a bank of three switches (see attached photo). The first switch is the mystery. The second switch controls the three ceiling lights, and the right switch controls the LED awning lights.

I removed the panel in the cabinet. The wire leaving the switch is pink & white with a 3 on it. Keystone says that wire is for the kitchen slide out, which we don’t have.

Besides the LED awning lights, there are no other outside lights (at least that I have found). All of the inside lights and outlets work whether this switch is on or off.

Anyone with a 178LHS or similar model know what this switch controls?

Do you have a porch light? Or basement storage light?

No porch light or light in any cabinet, storage compartment or underneath by the stairs. And I have no found any loose wires either.

In this picture it shows a light on the outside. Yours doesn’t have it?

Yes. The awning’s LED lights are controlled by the right-most switch.

We’ve done that as well as checked every outlet and the TV booster. Everything seems to work the same whether that switch is on or off.

Pink & white is kitchen slide according to Keystone wiring diagram and you don't have a kitchen slide.... so I guess that it goes exactly nowhere. Wouldn't be the first time I found wiring capped off in a trailer.

Ok last one…what about the outdoor electric outlet? Is it switch controlled? Or a valence light or night lit by the floor?
Other then that I’m thinking the prior years had an outdoor light so that was it and they always used a 3 gang light switch so just left it that way..I’m attaching a video that says they are light switches for inside and outside..but like javi said it may just go to nowhere

Brings to mind my favorite Steven Wright joke:

In my house there's this light switch that doesn't do anything. Every so often I would flick it on and off just to check. Yesterday, I got a call from a woman in Germany. She said, "Cut it out."

But seriously, folks...

If I were deathly curious about where that wiring went, I'd check both sides for +12V, then hang a "toner" on the idle side and wander around my rig inside and out with the toner receiver until I found the other end of the mystery wire.

It's one thing to say that they used the three-gang switch because that's what was standard on that model, but it's another to say that they actually hung wiring off it that didn't go anywhere.

I also doubt they would run a kitchen slide power wire to a on off switch…it would be a heavy duty 3 way slider switch ..not the on off light switch..I wonder if that pink and white #3 is actually going to that switch or just part of a bigger wiring harness that was roughed in and not used

Light by sewer dump. Sometimes hard to see until you stick your head down there?

I think it’s a light switch ..I’d wait till dark and turn it on with nothing else on and no outside lights on in the area …if it isn’t burned out you will see it …god I gotta find a new project to work on…too much time to wonder about things

I have a switch in my Hideout that turns on an LED strip light below the kitchen countertop. Mood lighting??? Yours might be the same. Look under the edge of the countertop toward the cabinets and see if you find LED strip.

It's anything in the kitchen slide. On my Avalanche I have the same wire pink & white with the #3 on it running to my Winegard Gateway.

Hmmm…The camper is wired for the Furrion WiFi but did not come with the router. I’ll have to check the connections at the plate.

UPDATE….

My no contact tester does not pick up low voltage so I had to use a test light and multimeter.

I pulled the Furrion WiFi baseplate and it appears that no 12v power is going to the unit no matter the switch position (the camper is not plugged in).

I removed the panel in the cabinet. There is power to the pink/white wire when the switch is on. I gently tugged on the wire and could hear it in the ceiling, but even when moving other wires in the hole, the pink/white wire pair seemed to be attached or caught on something.

I am leaning toward the theory that the switch was intended to control an outside light that Keystone eliminated. I may disconnect that wire pair and run my own wire through the wall to add an outside light.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I had not considered the WiFi but now know that is not it. However, if you know the switch controls something none of us have thought of, please let me know what it is.
