Toilet pipe filling up

Has anyone had a problem with their toilet pipe to the blackwater tank filling up when the tank itself is empty? I don't know why it keeps plugging, I always use RV toilet paper, could the pipe in the tank from the toilet be too long and not have enough clearance with the tank bottom to drain properly? 2020 montana 3931FB

Welcome to the forum. How are you determining that the tank is empty? It would help if you share what model and year trailer you have. It's easy to click on "UserCP" on the top black banm and put the info on your trailer and truck in your signature. This will help us help you by not going back and forth to get that basic information.

Next question, when you dump the black tank does the "clog" go way?

Next subject that will come up will be the weight of a 41' trailer with a GVWR of 16,000 lbs. and pin weight of potentially 3,700 lbs. plus the weight of the fifth wheel hitch in the bed on the back of a F250. I'd urge you to look at the yellow and white "tire inflation guide" on the driver's side door frame and note the number listed as maximum payload. You could have over 4,000 lbs in that truck when loaded up to go camping. I'm not aware of any 3/4 ton truck with that kind of payload capacity.

That's great, however the airbags reduce the load capacity by their weight and do not add to the load capacity. Neither do the tires. There are many, many posts here regarding weights and how to correctly find out if you are towing overweight or not. There are also countless posts on many other forums and as well as Youtube.

Not looking to rain on your parade but it is a safety issue that is unfortunately a common occurrence. The RV salesman tells you you're fine so he make a sale. You're not the first person to find themselves in this situation and you won't be the last.

Neither of which add ANY payload capacity to ANY truck. By adding those items & their weight only reduced the available payload of your truck further.
Most modern day trucks will "pull" most anything, their ability to "carry", or stop, that much weight safely is the issue.
It wasn't stated that you can't "pull" that rv with your truck, obviously you are & will continue to, just trying to make you aware that you are overloaded (probably by a 1000+ lbs) & concerned for you & your families safety along with others on the highway along side of you.

Pardon my being frank; sort of appears to match the above. The question is not how it "pulls"; the question is how does it "carry". If you are involved in any kind of road event, law enforcement and your insurance company are going to look at your payload sticker on the truck, easily determine you were not in compliance with DOT requirements and were significantly overloaded. They will take what they believe will be appropriate legal and insurance actions and they won't give a hoot about your air bags...

The other drivers facing you on-coming on a 2 lane highway? They probably care as well. Just sayin...

This situation ends up in several different categories.
1. The trip down that river in Egypt. De Nile. Indications are references to airbags, "dealer told me", references to manufacturer charts, etc.
2. Unsafe operator will concede safety and resolve to either purchase a suitable tow vehicle or more appropriate camper.
3. Person who is towing grossly overweight will leave and put head in sand. Called the ostrich strategy.

Seems pointless to continue to with this subject unless the unsafe vehicle operator asks for tips on buying the appropriate tow vehicle which in this case would be a one ton dually.

I appreciate all the concern but none of these comments have anything to do with my problem.

Booker's is my favorite, but most high proof single barrel bourbons will do.

Perhaps you recognize this as problem that potentialy far greater issues that your drain pipe. The postings concerning towing while far exceeding the truck's load capacity is an attempt to make you aware that you could end up knee deep in what's in that drain pipe.

Concerning your drain pipe issue, I'd be glad to help if you answered the questions I asked. If your only question is "has anyone had this problem" then my answer is no I have not.

Have a nice day and Good luck to you.

I know the tank is empty because the sensors are reading empty for one and I was able to access the drain valve and removed it, this allowed me to see into the tank consequently verifying that it was indeed empty.

It's the same with either issue, you're hauling too much s### on a 3/4 to truck.
One you can eventually rinse away, the other can't be cured regardless of how many add-ons you do.

Well then it sounds to me like either you need to dump the tank more frequently or use more water to flush things down the tank. If you can see the tank thru the toilet then it's a straight shot down to the tank. The toilet drain into the tank should be a flange at the floor attaching the toilet. That flange is connected to a length of pipe to reach a flange mounted to the top of the tank. That pipe should not protrude thru the top of the tank.

Just looked up these numbers on my RV
Dry Weight 13,542 lbs.
Pin Weight 2,530 lbs.
Truck specs
Tire Max Load 4,080 lbs.
The payload is 3,322 with factory tires, mine are 10 ply
The math looks like I'm good with this set up.
