RV First Mod / Warranty Issue?
Hello everyone. I'm new to RVing so I'm still in the honeymoon phase of our brand new Camper. On our 3rd camping, I noticed the outside shore power connection screws has rust on all 4 of them and no silicone around the housing area. So I replaced them with aluminum ones from Ace Hardware an up-size them from number 9 X 2 1/2" to number 10 X 2 1/2" because top right screws was loose and just keep turning without going nowhere. And lastly, I applied silicone in the screws and around the housing area. I wipe all excess silicone after I took the picture to make it look clean.
Now, I'm hoping this small mod does not void the warranty and by the way this is the second fix I did because when they installed the Furrion side cameras, they forgot to put silicone around them also.
Any advice or comments about the mod is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My advice: just don’t say anything and it probably will go unnoticed.

I don't see that as a modification. To me that's just maintenance.

I'd almost bet the comment from most any tech who sees the new screws would say, "Hey look at this, the factory finally stopped using those damn screws that rust"....
I don't think anyone would ever notice and if they did, trying to "pin it back on the owner" would be nearly impossible... I'd just smile, know you made it better and keep on camping.....

That's a good point. Although I modified/changed out the old rusty screws to stainless steel and applied silicone to prevent water seepage it should be considered as preventive maintenance work.
Thanks flybouy.

I agree with the above. No mod in that as far as I can see - they'll just think the factory is actually using better stuff.

Sounds good to me. Now I need to look around for more factory improved stuff. 😊 Thanks.

Void Warranty
If a product has a Warranty, then the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act applies.
Simply put, they must proof that your modification or alteration caused the failure. Of course, in Reality they simply say that is the Cause, refuse repairs and force you, to sue them, in Court.
Often, simply getting a court date or starting the Process is enough for the them to cave.

I am not keen on silicon and use butyl tape in those applications.
