Snow, snow, snow and more snow in Northern California

A big surprise. Going for 1' on the deck...
I 80 is chains required and trucks being screened both directions.
The Feather River Canyon, highway 70, is now closed again due slides in the Twain area...
Be very careful out there.

I will be going to Yellowstone, bear tooth pass/Red lodge/Estes Park/RMNP June 1st through 11th.. NOt pulling trailer, but will be driving around.. Seems ike a lot of snow has fallen out that way this year. Do you think some of our stops will be in question still in June???

Difficult to say. With the current snowpack still ~160% of normal for the year, and this late in the season, with more snow (2-3 feet on the summits) having fallen over the last day or so, it's anybodies guess. Several ski areas are predicting staying open into June, at least in California.

The 1st of June is pretty early for the high mountain passes. I've been through RMNP in July when snow was still packed on the sides of the road. The highway through the park is well maintained though. I've seen many roads closed in the Rockies in June. 3-4 years ago we tried to make the N side of the Grand Canyon and that highway was closed in June.

If you don't have the trailer don't worry; you can always turn around unless you are taking a route through the closed section then it would be time to regroup

I am not sure how the highest elevations will be in Montana... I

Just a light dusting of snow this morning on the lee side of the Sierra where I live. It looked like Minden and Carson City had some lake effect snow.

Looks like the next event may arrive Thursday and Friday. April showers...
