RV parking at my house

During the season the camper will sit next to my house. The problem is the width of the driveway. In order to leave enough room for my slides I need to park one side (slide side) on the drive way (asphalt) and the other side (entrance) on the grass. Currently the driveway side is directly on the asphalt while the grass side is on 3 stacked 2x6 (about 4ft in length). The question I have is for extending my driveway. The grass can get a bit soft (hence the 3 planks instead of just one). I was going to dig it out and lay stone. Wasn't sure if anyone else had any suggestions for this.

I did that once for a car and it worked great. Only difference is your trailer weighs waaay more than my little 2 seater sports car. You'd really have to make sure you have the ground/base compacted well otherwise it will slowly compact with your trailer on it.

If it were me I would dig down about 8 inches and start with a sand base of about 2 inches and then add b19 or crushed lime stone, which is used typically under driveways and roadways, about 6 inches, compacting it in layers at about 2 inches at a time. Also spraying some water on each layer as you bring it up. Happy Camping, Sam

I think I may try this at my house. Hope my neighbor doesn't mind me digging up his lawn and encroaching on his property! Maybe I'll just park it on his driveway.

The easy cheap way to do this is dig down about 10" to a foot get some good crushed stone almost dust consistency. Find a local commercial roofer get the stone he has removed from some building roof usually 1 to 1.5 inch stone mix it with crushed stuff and dump in the the are you dug out.

works great and the stone is usually free!

A layer of sand, a layer of 1/4 minus and then thick pavers (the kind made for driveways). I did a large patio this way and it works great and looks good.
