Towing 298RE
I'm new to forum and have gotten great advice. We will be picking up a new Outback 298RE in a few weeks. My current vehicle is a Chevy 2500HD extended cab; 6.0 Liter Gas motor with heavy duty tow package and 3.73 rear. After asking folks here for advise, this seems adequate to tow this trailer (advertised at 7447 but probably closer to 7,700 dry). Most, however, felt the 4.10 would be preferable in a trailer this size; and wheelbase was also mentioned as a concern.
This morning, I placed a deposit on a new truck. I intend to purchase a 2014 3500HD Crew Cab, Duramax; single rear wheel (with the 3.73 axle - the only one available with the Duramax). This gives me a bit more wheelbase; as well as greater torque and improved gas mileage. I don't want to struggle towing so I'd like your thoughts on this combination? Thanks in advance all!
