Refrigerator on while traveling?

We're going to Utah next week and since it is so hot on the way out (OK, TX, NM, AZ) we wanted to run the refrigerator on gas during the trip.

I know the fridge must be level to operate when parked but can it be run during travel? Can that be done without damaging the refrigerator?

The Dometic RM2652LBX manual states:
"When the vehicle is moving, the leveling is not critical, as
the rolling and pitching movement of the vehicle will pass
to either side of level, keeping the liquid ammonia from
accumulating in the evaporator tubing."

Seems to imply that it can be run while traveling but I wanted to hear from actual users about this.

Thanks, Jerry

Thumbs up Fridge while moving

Yes, the fridge can be on while moving, but don't stop for any length of time while it's still on.

I do it all the time and I think that devildogmom may have implied is don't leave it for a length of time more than 5 degrees unlevel or with your TV still electrically connected. It will drain your battery but will take several hours if not days.

We always travel with ours on. Motion from moving keeps the "off level" problem from occuring.

Turn Frig Off at Gas Pump

I think it's a good idea to turn the refrigerator off before pulling up to a gas pump, and then turn it back on after leaving the gas station. It's kind of a hassle and real easy to forget, but from safety standpoint, probably a good thing to do.

i usually start it the day before and let it run untill i park it for storage, then turn off gas and open doors. sometimes it can be a week, or for 3 days, all depends on whats going on.

Travel with it on, been doing it since our 91 Prowler. If fueling with Diesel and not near any Gasoline pumps, not such a big deal if you don't turn it off. Diesel is no where as explosive as Gasoline fumes. My fridge in on the curb side so it's on the opposite side of the pumps. Use your judgement.
