I will be picking up my new TT tomorrow and when asked the dealer awhile back if it will be hooked up to water and electric to test everything and check for leaks, the service manager told me no because they do all that the week before the pickup unit.

Now, I have not dealt with this dealer but have seen/heard positive things about them. Of course, nothing is 100%. Not sure where in the lot the camper will be parked, if I brought my water hoses and a long extension cord. Of course with still cool temperatures, probably won't be able to test a/c unit.

They have also scheduled the PDI for only 2 hours. I have prioritized my questions based on owning my previous camper but if I need more time I fully intend to stay there and continuing asking questions.

Any comments/concerns from the esteemed members of the forum?

Interesting comment from the dealer. I have never hooked mine up to water when checking them but have had good luck. You will be able to tell if things are good as you are going through it. If you find other issues in the trailer you might say at that point you need to check out the water systems.

Our dealer has a row of diagonal parking spots on his lot where the RVs can be hooked to water and power for the PDI. We were given a very thorough walk through during which we were able to move the slides, run the heat and the a/c, etc. They did not hurry us in any way, and, this was right after the Pomona show and they had something over 100 units to get 'over the curb'.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to take a look at and download the PDI Checklist that can be found on the forum by going to the Keystone Questions section of the forum and look for the sticky with the same name.

Many members have used this and have found it very helpful during the PDI at the dealership.

Sounds like you will be getting a thorough walkthrough.

I would insist on hooking up everything for the inspection. If there are any issues, such as leaks, they will have time to address them before you pick it up instead of you having to bring it back or wait longer. I tested my A/C in February; it blew air colder than the outside temp (50ish) and it didn't pop any breakers.

Check to see if the water lines are still winterized... If they are I will bet money the dealer didn't check them as keystone ships their units winterized.

I recommend that you don't sign the papers until you have gone through every square inch including plumbing using the PDI Form available in this forum. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Some dealers have better ethics than others. They aren't the ones signing the dotted line.

I do have the PDI checklist that I had already downloaded to use. I will use that before I leave the lot.
I have my tire pressure gauge, flashlight, assorted tools, torque wrench and various sockets for lug torque,etc.

I recommend bringing a cordless Phillips screw gun/drill to remove access panels to plumbing, water pump, furnace, etc. Saves some time.

Thanks to all.
The delivery went extremely well. There was remnants of fresh clean water in sinks, toilet and shower, so they had run clean water thru the system to check for leaks. They were just finishing washing the camper when we arrived.
When they took the TV to install my WDH, they covered the steering wheel with plastic as well as the drivers seat so it would get dirty.
There were two people to conduct the PDI and went through it pretty well with me asking questions.
There was a 30A outlet that the camper plugged into so we were able to operate everything.
Outside of the slide topper, power tongue jack and vent covers, the unit is stock. Now for the Mods!

Glad your PDI went well. The dealer wanted almost $1000 to do a PDI when we picked up our TT (optional, and of course I did not opt to pay for that).
I also asked for water and electric when I did my own PDI. They had it plugged in, but no water. They told me that they do a drop test...to test for propane leaks, but that was all....oh...and a rinse off before we arrived.

A. Insist that it be hooked up to electric even if only 30AMP.
B. Have them put water in fresh tank. Test pump and listen for leaks.
C. Test furnace till it kicks off.
D. Immediately test A/C due to heat from furnace.

If you want to test the water heater make sure that the tank is full of water BEFORE you turn it on. If it is an electric/DSI unit make sure tank is full and then turn electric on. You should be getting warm water during the 2 hour session.
