Balance RV Tires

I was just wondering how many of you have your RV tires balanced?
And if so, why? and if not, why not? Pros/Cons?

Balanced - yes
Why - Ever see a car going down the road with a tire out of balance, how it jumps up and down, almost to the point of seeing daylight between the tire and the road. Now think of what that's doing to all your expensive electronic stuff in your trailer, not to mention the good china dishes.

Saw someone pulling a Bullet on I-95 in Florida, the tires were bouncing really bad -- really beating that trailer up! Passed me and I was doing 75(with no trailer) -- some things people do are hard to comprehend.

We always get ours balanced. I think tires last longer. Also we sometimes forget to put things away, and often find them where we left them at next stop. A friend of ours is forever having doors and draws open. I keep telling him to get tires balanced, but he so far doesn't believe it will help.

Being unbalanced can cause a tire to fail.

There's an added reason to balance RV tires that hasn't yet been discussed. Almost all RV's are missing one important component in the suspension. The shock absorbers. When the tow vehicle has an unbalanced tire, at least a part of the "hop" is dampened by the shocks. If you've ever seen a car tire bouncing along at 60MPH, imagine how much work that shock absorber is doing. Even with the shock, the tire can bounce enough to make the whole car shake. Take away the shock and it would be nearly uncontrollable.

Most of us don't have shocks on our RV, so balancing the tires is pretty much the only way to help dampen the bouncing that's going to occur at almost any speed above 30-40 MPH. In an RV with no shocks, the cheap factory equalizer and hanger bolts is all that's between that bouncing tire and the trailer itself. Smooth riding tires (balanced) are pretty much the only thing that's keeping the trailer from "shaking apart" as it's being towed down the highway.

What do they do with a VA state trailer inspection?
Just wondering out loud.

I think its about 15 bucks... With VA if the trailer has brakes of any kind then you have to have it state inspected, which can be a pain because in order for the shop to be able to legally inspect your 5er, they have to be able to fit it inside their shop. So they have to have a tall shop, not any mom and pop inspection station can do it... I am taking mine to a Auto service center affiliated across from a RV shop... Dodd RV and Dodd auto service center in Portsmouth , VA...
