Hot water?
Shake down cruise on my 2022 Keystone Passport 219bh. I can’t seem to figure out the necessary position for these valves to get hot water. No diagrams or any hints in the owners manual. Can anyone discern what’s happening in the picture and how they should be configured?
As a precaution I’ve shut off the water heater for the night…

It’s been a while since I’ve dealt with a system like this one, but If you follow the hot lines up, the hot and cold probably run together at some point. That’s a mixer valve. If you position the valves to flow to those lines, you’ll get warm water instead of hot. There is also a water heater bypass position for winterizing on the cold side. You don’t want that bypassed, you need water to get into the water heater. I can’t see in the pic which lines go where, but if you look at the routing, you should be able to figure it out. Again, it’s been awhile since I’ve dealt with lines like this, someone else will probably be able to provide better clarification/guidance.

That looks correct to me. The valves are turned to direct water to the appropriate lines (blue to blue, red to red). The white is your bypass line and is currently closed off.
Lift the pressure relief valve to ensure you have water pressure in the tank and you should be in business.

Ok. I think that worked. I had some warm water this morning, which I think was residual from before turning the heater off. Thanks everyone!
PS: Keystone could do a better job including schematics for these things….

You won’t get any schematics. In your pic it looks like the top valve may be wrong. The handle of the valve will point to the direction of water flow. The bottom is cold in (blue) and the top is hot out (red). Set the handles so water flows into the tank at the bottom and out of the tank at the top.
You also need to make sure the tank is full before turning on the electric, as no water in the tank can burn it out quickly. You can pop open the pressure relief valve and check for pressure, and then open a hot faucet and let it run until all the air is gone.

Water is coming out of the hot faucet with no sputtering and it is indeed HOT. Not sure where the pressure relief valve is…

Relief valve is on the tank, outside. Sounds like your good to go.

Yeah, those 'T' valves are not plumbed the way you and I would do it. I'd have put the bypass line on the 90° legs of the valves and made the main lines straight through. These were plumbed so that the water has to make a 90° turn during normal ops.

Chuck I had to enlarge and magnify the picture, get my glass eye and reading spectacles before I could barely see that red line going off into the darkness - and it's not even early any more.

Fortunately I was using my iPad at the time and could easily zoom the picture. Typing the response by tapping one letter at a time is never pleasant, though.

With two hands I’m so fast it appears like I’m typing two letters at a time.
I actually spent some time trying to better word what I was trying to say, but in the end it was too early for me, too.
