New Keystone Cougar 316RLS owner

Hi all. My husband and I just purchased 2022 cougar 316 RLS. Love it, but having a few issues. Major one being gray water tank overflowed into underbelly. I assume this is not supposed to happen.

Welcome to the forum. There's no way for the gray water holging tank to "overflow" into the underbelly. Typically if the graywater is full it will back up into the shower or sink, depending on what's connected to it. You have a leak either in the tank or a fitting connected to it. I would suggest notifying your dealer on Monday and get a waaranty claim started.

Thanks for the info. I have contacted a few dealers in my area. Bought RV out of state so trying to find dealer that will do warranty service.

Welcome aboard! Definitely a warranty issue so I hope you get some satisfaction with a different dealer.

I was just looking at that floor plan yesterday...very nice use of space that gives the dual vanities. If there's a different 5er in our future that feature would be on the list.

You might want to take a look at the payload of your 2500 truck. The trailer you list has a gvw of 12,282 lbs. The typical pin weight is ~23% of the trailer weight or 2,825 lbs. Add another 200 + lbs for the hitch and your truck is carrying over 3,000 lbs. Thats before you put anything else into your truck. Your truck payload can be found on the driver's door jamb and is the yellow and white sticker that lists the tire pressures.

We took months looking at Floorplan. We found this one to be the best for storage and large bathroom. It was hard to find though. We love it.

Hello and welcome!

Congrats on your new Cougar, and water should not be flowing from the underbelly.

As mentioned, have your dealer check it out and repair it.

Have fun and take care!

We’ll Marshal, a 2022 GM 2500 has a max GVWR of 11,500, so payload north of 3,200# most likely. About three years ago this would be a SRW 3500.

I am really curious to see what the payload will be on my 2022 GMC 3500 SRW.

Well Russ that doesn’t mean EVERY one built has that much payload. If there's someplace that says that's the MINIMUM payload for that truck then by all means, please share.

Well don't give a person with an F350 SRW a free pass then, as you could get them with a GVWR of 9,900##!

Personally I think the manufactures are helping buyers play games with registration laws and HOA rules! just because it has F250 or 2500 on the door or hood, once over 10,000# GVWR it is still a class 3 truck.

Some register by weight some by designation.

OK, and your point? I don't understand the issue with letting someone know there MAY be an issue. If it get's them to look, and confirm that they are either PK or not what's the harm?

Roper, in another post you state that your Ram 2500 was about 200# over payload. I assume that means you have scaled the truck and 5er and hopefully know your pin weight.
I am curious as to how the percentages worked out on your 5er.

The specs on your model are;
Shipping Weight 10,124 lb.
Carrying Capacity 2,076 lb.
GVWR 12,200 lb.
Hitch 1,805 lb. 17.8% of Dry weight

Many state and most experiences of non Toy Haulers is wet pin is between 20% and 25% many use 22% or 23% as a guide line. If we take 23% of your 5er at GVWR, the pin would be 2,806 lb., if true nearly 50% of your carry capacity would need to go to the pin.

Just curious if you are willing to share how your unit weighed out loaded to the percentages.

Thanks,
Russ

Our new 2021 24RDS came home with a minor leak into our “hold”. Hubs used a rubber pipe wrench on the very loose fitting. He checked all he could find and one more was loose. Hope yours is that simple to fix.
