Backup Camera for 2019 2520RL

Anyone know if is this wireless Furrion backup camera will mount and work in the camera mounting place on the back of my Passport 2520RL?

Should work just fine. Virtually any rear view RV camera will work. There are many that are far less expensive and work better. The connection is just a 2 wire connector behind the bracket. Any basic 2-wire camera will wire up to it.

For a couple of options - look at Haloview from Tadi Brothers. I bought VisionWorks from TechnoRV on a Black Friday sale for $321. I do not have side cameras. Threw my OEM Furrion in the trash due to poor resolution and connectivity. The Furrion monitor looked like the world looks without my glasses…fuzzy and blurry. The VisionWorks 5” screen is incredibly HD sharp. They sent a camera bracket that perfectly replaces my Furrion bracket - it fits the OEM Furrion vinyl gasket and same screw holes. I caulked the perimeter of the gasket and put a dab of silicone into the screw holes. The Sony camera plugs into the Furrion plug - no wire cutting or electrical tape needed. I had plenty of wire to pull out to make the connection. Stuffed the excess wire and connections back thru the 1/2” hole no problems.

Distance from rear camera to the monitor in the cab is ~50’+ with my RV and truck. It impossible to mount antennas perfectly vertical on my rear cap or on my windshield mount to achieve optimum transmission and reception. On the first trip I experienced momentary signal losses and screen freezes. Even with the signal loss - it was a big improvement over the blurry Furrion. I called VisionWorks about the issue and they are sending me a new antenna with a 24’ coax which will allow me to mount the antenna closer to the cab and significantly shorten transmission distance. I will post an update on that in the future. With the shorter distance in your unit - you might not have connectivity issues.

Do you have a "range extender" or "front antenna system for your Furrion rear camera?

Another vote for the Haloview MC7108. Works great on my 22' Crossfire. Love the bright sharp screen. I run it all the time - it's nice be able to watch vehicle activity behind me while rolling down the road.

Thanks for the input. This looks interesting:

https://www.haloview.com/haloview-7-...stem-rd7p.html

The more I think about this the more I want a full time rear view camera, not just a backup camera. I'm also wanting wireless to avoid running any kind of cable between the rear camera and the monitor. I just want to connect 12v power at the rear camera and at the front monitor. The Furrion seemed to give me all of this.

To answer your question, yes. The Furrion will mount just fine. However, the actual screen display is NOT ANYTHING like the screen display on that web page. Still it works well.

It's like buying a McDonald's Big Bac. The image on the big board behind the servicing counter looks so attractive. When you actually get it, unwrap the paper, it's miserable, squashed, sloppy, hunk of something that doesn't even come close to it's representation in the advertisment. If they actually took photos of what they actually sell, McDonalds would have never made it past 1956.

If you get the Haloview, I would recommend the RD (range dominator). It comes with and external antenna on the camera so the reception is more reliable. I have the one you posted above with the side cameras on a 42' 5th wheel and it works great. I had a Furrion on a previous rig and was not happy with the reception, basically just a backup camera.

I second the Haloview RD7, I've had no issues with signal on my rig and the monitor has a clear picture.

At that low cost I should probably try it out and if it doesn't work I can easily return it. I see it says it's activated with reverse is on but I'd like for it to be on continuously.

Edit: I bought this to try. thanks!

thanks!

Let me know what you think. The camera works when it's powered on. Typically that's with the clearance light power so it's on when those lights are on.

I installed a very similar one on my TT earlier this year. It has e few seconds delay but works nicely as a rearview mirror, on when lights are on. In town I did get some signal loss when I was around an area with a lot of stores. I bought an extension cable for the antennae on the display unit. I ran it under my seats to get the antennae in the back window of the truck.

I'm working on installing it. The 7 inch display is huge and I'm having a hard time finding a place to put it.

You could attach it to the truck's rear view mirror with a couple of thin bungees or thick rubber bands. Should have enough frame edge to not block any of the actual display.

Per JSB's recommendation I bought this rear camera for only $140:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Installation was easy except for the large 7 inch display, where it was hard to find a place for it. The pic below shows how it worked out. It works very well and I'm amazed at what you get for $140.

I built a console for mine that sits on my dash. The RAM dash makes it fairly easy. I now have a different TPMS but the same set up.

You can get rid of the back-up lines on your screen if you don't want them. Glad to hear it's working well. Ours does a pretty good job.
