I Can't Reach it!

The bathroom fan that is. We love our new Alpine 3495FL, but the ceiling is so high in the bathroom, I can't reach the manual vent and I'm 6'3". How's my wife or a visitor going to reach it, stand on that flimsy toilet? This is a huge oversight on Keystones part and my fault I didn't recognise this during the walk through. La Mesa Rv is saying Keystone won't put a auto fan in. I guess I will have to break out some more cash. Buyer be aware.

I wonder if Keystone is listening.

My DW is somewhat vertically challenged and is not able to reach the bathroom vent or the fan. Our fan is controlled by a rocker switch. Perhaps you could use the wand (handle) of a swifter or the handle from your back brush to operate the fan. If you do a forum search, you will find at least one thread that I remember where a member routed wires to a wall switch to operate the fan.
Good luck and keep smiling

I can reach it NOW

Have I got the tool for you. had the same problem with my kitchen roof vent and it's called VENT STIK made by barker. It's a 34in pole with a hook on the end, you get 2 replacement vent knobs with rings on them. they work great I even ordered more handles as they are longer and easy to turn with arthritis.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may have to get one until I recover enough from the purchase of the Alpine to breakout with some more cash for a fantastic fan with remote.

I still think for the money we spend on new 5v'rs Keyston should have put one in the high ceiling bathroom. The fantastic fan is about $250 to me, but we all know they buy in bulk and probably for half that or less.

Still love the trailer, don't get me wrong, just hoping someone is listening.

Or pick up a pull chain style switch at your local hardware store. Swap out the rocker for it and add whatever length chain works for you. Total cost would be a couple of dollars.

I like steves idea because buying a montana 3750fl would cost too much and a cable with a turnbuckle to lower the roof would be ugly! all joking aside i have an extra one with a wall switch that you can have i put in a 2nd a/c unit. pm me if you want it

Engine31, We have the same problem with our 310re Laredo 5er. I am 6'1" and can not reach our kitchen vent either so the smoke alarm goes off often because Keystone eliminated the vent over the range. They sure thought that one thru. I called them and their solution was to carry a ladder...DAHH

Just to clarify, turning the vent on with the wall switch isn't a problem, it's reaching the vent knob.

Isn't that great? Same here. I have no other reason to carry a ladder but now they want me to carry one for that, and try to get it around or over the toilet.

LOL, I like that. Thanks for the offer for the fan. I'm kind of liking the idea of the remote operated one making installation easy in the wiring department.

Our kitchen has a really high ceiling too... In it we have a fantastic fan. The fan is switched and so is the raise/lower electronic control. Perhaps something like this would work for you.

We also love our Alpine and enjoy the comfort it provides us. Is it perfect? Not hardly, but the upgrades can be made as time and money permit. One thing I have learned over the years is to make the changes you want the first time. You will thank yourself later for installing the Fantastic fan w/remote. Just mount the remote on the wall and be done with it.
