Refrigerator problems

Bought a 2013 Alpine in November. Now pushing 6 months old. Have issue with frigerator...in that it cycles between 35 degrees and 50 degrees. When it starts going up to the 50 degrees... it won't cool back down... until it is turned off and back on.

Took it in... and tech said .. "Working fine, no problems". So now what do I do? keep throwing out the milk and stuff... cause the fridge won't keep it cold?

How do I convince Keystone and the service reps... that something has to be done??

Thanks

Contact your dealer. It's not a Keystone problem but the dealer should fix it through the manufacturer's warranty.

Just curious if that is in on electric or propane? I've ready some other posts where they had a similar problem on electric, but worked fine on propane. The circuit board was replaced.

It depends "partly" on the brand of refrigerator. Dometic's have an issue with the thermistor slide not staying in adjustment. Sometimes getting a cool adult beverage off the top shelf can knock it out of place or even completely off the cooling vane. That would cause it not to call for cooling until the box is extremely warm. It also could be a weak battery or not supplying 12 VDC to the control circuit.

On the newer Atwood "helium" refrigerators, there was an issue in the earlier models where once it cooled down and the propane burner shuts down, it will not "reset" or "relight" until power is removed and reapplied to the control circuit. Also, if it is operating on electric power and the power is removed (unplug the RV from shore power), it will not automatically switch to gas. It must be turned off and then turned on again so the 12 VDC "brain" can tell the propane burner to take over.

There are some other issues, and as stated by previous posters, the dealership needs to look at it.

The refrigerator in our brand new 2013 Cougar 25RLSWE had to be replaced before we had it three months. Just completely quit when we were on the road in California at over 100F. The Camping World store in Meridian ID replaced it with no problems. Apparently it wasn't the only unit that had a problem.

We had the same problem on our previous Cougar. Would run fine for about 5 days then for no apparent reason the fridge would stop cooling. I would fiddle with it and turn it off and on again, from electric to propane and eventually it would start working again. Never did figure out which of my "adjustments" got it working again.
