Welcome to the forum : wlcm:

There are 4 wires: just cut them one at a time where they come out of the furnace leaving enough room to put them back together with butt connectors. There are 4 wires:12V positive, 12V negative and two blue wires for the thermostat.

Then the return should be under the fridge, just remove the grill.

Ok. Can you post a pic of the outside of the furnace?

Realize that the furnace, hot water heater etc. were never installed with the thought of your convenience of removal/replacement. You always have to cut the wires and add extensions. I've searched and looked but I think RV manufacturers have tiny elfs or mini robots that run through those small cavities to leave you with that...."how did they do that" moment??

I just went through that on mine. There is an acess door for the fridg, the wires go through the shelf that the fridge sits on. Behind the fridge cut the wires and to put them back tape a two or three foot wire to the furnace wires, before putting the furnace in the hole start the wire up through the hole then when the furnace is in place pull the wires up through the hole and reconnect them. Also the blue thermostat wires, one of them is labeled positive, look close.

So then, the chances of a furnace that has already been R&R'd by your dealer service department already having those extensions installed are pretty good?

I guess it would depend on what they did and how they did it. You could just pull it out and see....?

I assume I'd have to disconnect all the ductwork to satisfy my curiosity, and working low and horizontal isn't as attractive as it used to be, so I guess I'll wait until next time it dies.

I don't know how far you researched pulling the furnace so here it is. Outside you remove 6 screws holding the exhaust plate which is glued also so a bit if cutting silicone and prying removes it. Also remove the intake flange. That is all that holds that end of the furnace.

Inside 4 screws hold the wood grille to the cabinet. 5/16 socket removes the hose clamps on the 4 inch ducts. Two screws remove the front duct plate. Two screws in the bottom is all that holds the furnace in, leave the center screw till later. Cut the wires, pull it out. Half hour job. Goes back in as easy.

The ducts are just twist and fit onto the furnace. Turn until the tab lines up with the slot and the whole assembly comes off, no fighting with driver. Not all ducts are held on with hose clamps, often times it’s a self tapping screw.
