New Mexico State Parks - Closed to Camping

My friend who is in a Glenwood Titanium 5'er just bought an annual pass to the NM State Parks Campgounds. He got 2 weeks use, but now reports that NM has closed the parks to overnight camping. They remain open for day use.

It looks like the "overnight use ban" starts today and runs through April 9th. That's roughly 28 days that the parks will be closed to overnight use. Seems strange to me that they are prohibiting overnight use but the parks are open for normal use during the day. Exposure is exposure, using the bathroom during the day is no "safer" than using it after hours, so the authorities must know something about "local conditions" that the rest of us simply don't know ?????

That said, the campground permit is valid for 12 months, so I'd suspect there's some sort of extension that will go into effect for this period. That said, seems he's going to need to find a different place to park his trailer for the next 28 days..... No doubt the local private campgrounds will be busy, so getting reservations soon would be in his best interest if he wants to not be "behind Cracker Barrel" on his way out of town.

I know the country well and park . I Need to cancel and get my money back from NM my reservation is near Carlsbad New Mexico. There is a small Private park in Glenwood not far from the state park it’s North on 180 I stayed a few years ago and it was 20 a night if it’s not full.

Yeah, what is the logic?
Any truth to National parks also closing?

And California just closed all parks and beaches again. People way too close together on the beaches last week-end.

Maryland is still struggling. All numbers, including unemployment, still on the rise.
