Whats the advantage ?

Is there any real advantage to having a TT with the fiberglass front cap over the trailers that do not

You ask a good question to which I have no answer except that if the sides are fiberglass than it matchs the sides. I have had 2 now fiberglass and about 7 aluminum and cannot see where there is any advantage to one over the other. Maybe just a maybe the fronts can be curved more with fiberglass than aluminum?

Are you talking the molded caps vs. the smooth caps that match the sides? The molded caps look nicer IMHO and the ones without the molded cap can dent easily or reshape as you drive down the highway. I think they have replaced a lot of fronts so they are giving the molded ones a try.

Our last trailer had the formed Filon front end, while the present one has a molded fiberglass front cap. I think the fiberglass cap looks better, and probably has less of a chance for delamination or leaks, and might help aerodynamically at speeds over 85 mph (LOL!). The downside is it is not insulated very well, and the darker colored ones that seem popular now seem to have a cheap gelcoat that oxidizes quickly - especially near the top where the sun hits it hardest.

IMO they look better and can be made in aerodynamic shapes....that's about it. Some come with issues like oxidation.
