Scissor Jacks
This year we purchased a Cougar 29 RBK and have noticed on camping trips that when ever our daughter moves around in her top bunk or anyone moves in the trailer it seems to shake. I have tried using blocks under the scissor jacks so they don't go down to far but nothing seems to help. Prior to this camper we had a 24 foot long camper with no slides and the scissor jacks on that held it steady as a rock, I guess my question is, because of the length and having a slide on the new trailer is shaking something we just have to deal with or is there something we can do. Thanks in advanced for any advice!

Quite a number of members have purchased and installed "stabilizers" on their RV's. There are 2 or 3 brands that seem to popular and are reported as being quite effective to reduce or eliminate the movement and shaking you are describing.
Steadyfast, JT's Strong Arm and BAL are the 3 that I would recommend. The last brand, BAL is the most economical. If you are a bit handy and have some basic tools, they can be installed yourself. Each one of these stabilizers has a website you can go to and there are also UTube videos of each one I believe.
Give them a look and see what you think. They can be installed on both TT's and 5ers.

I just installed the Strong Arm stabilizers this week. It helps a lot! Worth the $244 from Camping World. It took me and a friend about 4 hours to install once we figured out what to do. Not too bad, had to drill some holes into the frame where they connect. That was the hardest part. If you go this route, make sure you have someone to help you. Attache the stabilizers to the scissor jacks first, then hold the other end up where your planning to drill holes and have someone raise and lower the jack all the way to make sure it does get bound up. We had a problem with one and had to adjust it.

The longer the trailer, the more it will shake. We use some basic extra stabilizers that set up quick but my wife and I are into keeping set up and take down real quick.

I bought aluminum stand jacks $25 set of 4 and I put them in front of the axle on each side and under the front door and large glide. Now it is very steady and we have a keystone passport 35'

I have seen them on sale somewhere for $25, but now the lowest I can find is $33 here at Amazon

I've also heard good things on the stabilizer bars from folks I've run into. I hear a longer trailer mentioned, but not height. If your new Cougar has a taller frame (off the ground), than your old TT, you are going to see more movement as well.

I added the BAL stabilizers, they work very well. Since I have a TT, not a 5ver, I added the cross stabilizers in the rear so they were easier to access. I also added 2 add'l scissor jacks, both in the middle of the camper, one is by the steps, the other by the slide out. This helped tremendously also.

I made my own set of "Steadyfast" stabilizers for under $100 which helped tremendously. I may still add an extra pair of scissor jacks or screw jacks in front of the front wheels.

In a moment of boredom, I took a set of those my buddy gave me and bead blasted them. Then I powdercoated them "super mirror blue". Gave them to my stepson for his outback Kargo roo.

Scissor Jacks
I also added the BAL stabilizers & started using the X-Chock, but I still get some movement. I have looked at adding additional scissor jacks to the middle of the trailer, but the lower metal wrap will not allow this. My rear jacks are mounted at the very end of the frame rails, I am thinking of moving them forward about 3' hoping this will help.

I bought 3 sets of these and put one set on each side in front of the axles and put one in the back under the bumper. Along with these I also use the X-chocks. These stabilizer bars helped a lot. I also changed out my scissor jacks that came on the rig with 6500 pd rated jacks. Definitely more stable with these added.

I bought a hydraulic jack (that included a locking jackstand device) for tire changing use but it is too tall to fit under the axle (A 4 to 6 ton short bottle jack works best for that). Still I kept the tall jack and use it under the frame on the slide-side to add simple, quick center stability. Apparently the slide-side, with a large section of wall missing, and the heavy, cantilevered slide hanging out, is the little weaker side as far as frame flex goes.
You can view your % of frame flex by getting on a stepladder and sighting down the rain gutter before and after the end stability jacks are engaged.
