Another little mod/addition to the kitchen area, peel and stick and it is PVC composite with aluminum. I can hardly tell the difference between this and real wood...except this is thinner....

I did get my manual awning installed but no pictures yet.

However, I did add three cameras to the unit. Left side, Right side, and the required rear view. Driving with the rear view is handy. I wired them into the running lights for power.

Installed wheel well liners. Found a place that sells polyethylene plastic in 4'x8' sheets and cut/screwed to fit in wheel wells to protect against damage from tire blowout. 1/4" should be stiff/strong enough for most damages. Also sheds mud better than factory products.

Once you experience a tire "blowout" at 60MPH, you'll realize that trying to "protect against wheelwell damage" is, for the most part, an exercise in futility...

What you did accomplish is to cover the DARCO with a stronger protective cover. DARCO is "woefully ineffective" against rock chips, even mud/ice/snow that gets slammed into the DARCO, piercing it and making it more of a "screen door" than a "protective storm door" laying against the luan under it.

I used 1/4" UMDH (from Menard's) to line my wheelwells and sealed them with DICOR sealant at all the seams. That was 3 years ago and the wheelwells appear "unchanged" over that time. There's no damage, but I don't have any expectations that 1/4" of plastic will prevent "slinging rubber" that can sever a 3/4" steel pipe to protect the trailer structure....

Whoa JRTJH; thread title is: "What did you do to your RV today". Did someone piss in your Wheaties today? Having pulled trailers with pickups for 30 years I've got a pretty good handle on what I'm doing. I did not say what I did will withstand a blowout; I mainly added the PE sheet to withstand rocks and mud as you stated.

Today I attempted to caulk the top of the C-rail joint "connecting" the rubber roof and the sidewalls because it was showing cracks. Total horror story. Got smears of Dicor non-leveling all over the black screw shield strip, and couldn't get them off with the soapy water I had available. Looks atrocious. Hope to be able to solvent it off tomorrow. What dissolves Dicor safely?

No, I seldom eat "oats" for breakfast and leave that to the horses.... I realize you're proud of your work, I did the same thing to my wheelwells several years ago. I commented about the "protection it will provide in case of a tire blowout" not about the "protection it will provide that's superior to the DARCO the factory uses"....

My point, that you apparently either missed or failed to comprehend is that "tire cages" built of 2" steel pipe, welded together is the "OSHA approved way to protect against injury or damage from an "exploding tire". The "stark reality" is that a 1/4" plastic sheet is not going to prevent damage to the wheelwell structure, so don't fool yourself into believing it will help with the destructive forces of an exploding tire.....

Your original post: "Installed wheel well liners. Found a place that sells polyethylene plastic in 4'x8' sheets and cut/screwed to fit in wheel wells to protect against damage from tire blowout. 1/4" should be stiff/strong enough for most damages" is patently incorrect. The remainder of the post: "Also sheds mud better than factory products." is about all you can reasonably expect the plastic sheeting to accomplish.

Withstand -vs- Protect Against. Hmmm... I took it the same, you’re trying to prevent the tire from destroying the trailer upon a blowout.

(be a little nicer when discussing breakfast foods.)

For the record I prefer malt-o-meal, always have, but only in winter do I make it.

Sadly today we put the camper to bed for the winter. It’s going to be a long 6 months, but I have list of upgrades and modifications to get ready for next season!

Today was spent getting ready for my next trip. Installed an extension cable for my rear observation camera so i could move the antenna up to the front cap. Now there is line of sight and only about 10’ between the antennas and full bars on the signal. Then I added a external magnetic antenna and a repeater for the TPMS. All six sensors popped up immediately on the display. I have 4 on the 5th wheel and 2 on the trailer for the side by side I tow behind it. Used to have problems with sensor signal dropping, especially on the back trailer. Also packed wheel bearings and checked the brakes and put new maxxair covers on. Just about ready to hit the road for one final trip for the year

Well, what did I do today - whoops, maybe I and DW? Actually started yesterday.

Repairing the damage from the trailer being in the shop - bent J panel. Washed this very tall, long trailer (yesterday evening) then waxed it today. And we finished it! Told DW I feel like I'm 10' tall and bulletproof - but I need about 6 Advil and bed. Inspected the sealing on the roof edges - they look good. Washed those new Sailun tires - man those are just big. Forgot to put the water filter on the hose and was reminded how terrible our water is here - thought I would have to get a chisel out to remove the water spots. RainX window cleaner leaves a terrible residue on the window.

I did all this, learned all this in a very compressed timeframe due to a.....WINTER STORM WARNING for us???? (and the temps are dropping quickly). High today 87. Tomorrow high - 36. What the heck? This global warming has got to stop. All this to get ready to leave for FL on Thursday and what...called the owner to make sure all was a go (been reserved since Jan.).....well; all the additions/changes are going slower than expected. We are rushing to get your site ready but don't know. You might have to locate in a site other than the one you wanted and move a little later when the changes are done....ummmm - "I don't like moving". So, we agreed that we arrive a week later, put the trailer in the barn and I will call all the reserved locations and try to move them a week. Oh, DW just told me I need to change T shirts....I have sweat stains under my armpits.....
