Which Goose Box

Hi All,
Going from a travel trailer to 40 ft fifth wheel. Fifth wheel has a 2100 pound pin weight and GVWR 14,200 pounds. Goose box 16 K is rated for 3200 pounds pin weight 20 K rated 4000 pounds. Anyone out there with same size fifth wheel with real world weights? Do you exceed 3200 pounds pin weight? Anyone using a goose box 16k what size fifth wheel.

I agree, better to have it and not need it.

Yep, go big. I would also save the pinbox that you have on the trailer. Ya never know, you might want to go heavier and switch out pinboxes again.

If you're using the brochure or website pin weight specs, to get the pin weight, then its low... ideally, the pin weight for a 5th wheel is generally 20-25% of the GVWR.

20% of 14200 is 2840#
22% of 14200 is 3124#
25% of 14200 is 3550#

Go with the bigger goose box.

Go big, the cost is negligible. I've got the 16k on an 11500 trailer and love my Goosebox.
