Adding hydraulic fluid
Just purchased a new Fuzion 423. And I found a leak at the motor pump and the dealer sent me the part that was leaking. As fixing I know I have to retract all the jacks to replace the part. But what hydraulic fluid do you use. And the fill shows 2 arrows and I guess to the top of the tag. Any help appreciated
Thanks

I am working on a similar problem on my 2017 fuzion. No idea what kind of oil they use, have heard of them using several different brands in the past. Mine is leaking somewhere right behind the generator. everything is oil soaked so its not easy to find. is the sheeting under yours attached with nails?

Racebug I just had a call with LCI and the fluid is type # AW32 Hydraulic oil. And he said that this is a common used oil. And he recommended to fill the tank within 1/4inch of the fill hole on the tank

My Lippert Manual specifies Type "A" Automatic Tranny Fluid for my 2013 Alpine.
Good Luck,

mine sure doesn't look like ATF. Much more brown in color. Honestly, I don't think it would hurt either way. These aren't running for hours a day.

I thought I seen in my book that it uses Dexter ATF also...I think I'll double check that and see.

From the guy at LCI said being as new as mine it wasn't good to mix. I agree with that.

I syphon one gallon out of the reservoir every two years and replace it with this...
And my hydraulic system still purrs like a kitten!

And ATF is just hydraulic fluid with dye added along with other additives, and can be mixed with the original fluid. It is also recommended to siphon out the fluid from the tank and refill with fresh every few years.

Don't forget the "popping" from hydraulic self leveling systems. The "fix" for that was to add "anti-stiction fluid" (which I believe is, for the most part, just a good grade of "quality hydraulic fluid") to the system.
I look at the hydraulics on my tractor, it's got three filters on the same hydraulic fluid, my truck has a filter on the hydraulics in the transmission, I look at the RV systems and there's no filter, just the same fluid being used "unconditioned" for years and years. It's remarkable that we don't have more "O-ring bits", metal shavings and more system failures than we do.
I don't have a hydraulic system on my trailer, everything is electric, but if I did, I'd be finding a means to add a filter to the system, probably on the input of the pump.

Lippert lists the following:
ADDING ANTI-STICTION FLUID TO LCI HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS
If there is a popping noise in a Lippert Leveling system, Lippert has approved adding a quart of anti-stiction fluid. Approved fluids are listed by brand name and fluid characteristics below:
1. Torco RFF Grade 15 (Fig. 1)
2. Maxima Fork Oil Grade 15 (Fig. 2)
3. Caterpillar Hydraulic Oil Additive 1U-9891 (Fig. 3)

Was at my dealer today and was told to drain a quart of fluid out and replace it with fork oil from a motorcycle shop. Supposed to improve performance and longevity.
Like JRTJH post.

I tried the folks at Keystone with my VIN NUMBER ON THREE DIFFERENT Occasions only To be informed that there is no way to identify what came in our 2019 Fusion! I also contacted the manufacture twice and was given two different brand names and told not to mix them! I also received two different fluid levels for the reservoir . It would be veryrefreshing to get just just one straight answer .

I'd like to add a filter to the hydraulic pump on our Alpine, and the proper way to do it is to place at the inlet to the pump, as John stated.
However, the pump and reservoir are an integrated assembly, so installing a filter there is not possible. I suppose installing one on the outlet before the manifold will have to do. I will try to post photos when done.
Some filtration is better than no filtration, IMHO.

Your RV came with EITHER ATF ( Lippert has an approved list of approved ATF fluids ) OR IT CAME with AW32 hydraulic fluid..
Red = ATF

Honey brown or slightly clear = AW32 Brand Name don't matter .. just AW32
