When the wife and I were on tour at the Keystone facility in Goshen, IN last week I asked the same question about walking on the roof with my 300+ frame. The reply... look at any Nascar race and count at the number of people viewing from the top of RV's.

If I recall rule of thumb is if came with a ladder you can walk on it, if not do not try it. Amount of weight ? I am sure there is a limit, how much ??

That's the rule we use, doesn't matter which thumb.

Generally with any ultra lite frame, it's not recommended to walk directly on the roof. However, when your seasonal maintenance window approaches, you can use sections of 2" foam board or 3/8" plywood to help spread your weight across the roof rafters. I'm 200 lbs and have been up on my roof at least a half dozen times in the last year for sealant inspections and modifications. If I was heavier, I may be reluctant to and just have a service center do it. I'm happy to be only 200lbs as I'm kind of cheap!

What I did was contact Keystone with my VIN. They replied promptly to advise I did in fact have a walk on roof. My Cougar did not come with a rear mounted ladder.
But as mentioned on other posts use their advise if you are not contacting Keystone.

I looked at the warranty PPW. They spell it out pretty clearly. If your trailer comes with a factory installed ladder, then it is a full walk on roof. If it does not have a factory installed roof, then no, it is not designed to be a fully walk on roof.
Mine is in the latter category. I have to belly crawl around to check or do anything on the roof.

Strange, maybe they owe you a ladder
You can walk up there if you can figure out how to get up there

I found out the hard way with a cracking of the 1/8" (or close to it) luan plywood with my knee. I had a 3'x'3' piece of 1/2" birch plywood laying around that I glued carpet (carpet facing down so not to damage the roof) on so I could sit in various areas to install roof vent covers and replace the factory antenna with a better one. After reading the manual, it does mention that if there is not a ladder, it's not walk-able. I also discovered, there is at least one place on the roof that does have 3/8" OSB reinforcement which is where the antenna is located.

I don't have a ladder either but it's definitely a walkable roof and I've never felt anything wanting to sag when I'm up there.
I'm thinking that they say that some roofs aren't walkable as the roofs on some trailers are thin. Also they have no idea how much a guy weighs and they don't want to be sued if a guy makes a new skylight in their trailer.

At my age and weight I don't walk on any roof not made of concrete.

I've been on mine and it has no ladder. I have installed a couple vent covers and inspecting seals around the antenna and A/C. I'm not up there doing jump-n-jacks or cart-wheels!

I don't feel the curved roofs like on my camper is strong enough . I use 2 boogie boards easy enough to move around and won't hurt roof.
'most of you probably got a couple of them already.

Earlier in this thread I posted about the number of people that can be found on top of TT at Nascar races. Let me explain.
On Thursday May 11 myself and the DW were at Keystone taking plant tours. The first facility produced the Cougar and Laredo light fifth wheel and travel trailers. At this facility they use the steel trusses and the 3/8" decking. I asked about myself walking on the roof as I am 300+, and the tour guide replied that it was OK and could support much more. The next facility visited produced the Alpine, Avalanche, and Laredo Mid Profile. This plant used fabricated wood trusses with 3/8" decking. Again asked about walking on the roof and got the same reply.
I am not suggesting that you not follow any written or verbal instructions from the manufacture. I would suggest, that if at all possible, take a plant tour, very informative.
One other thing; If the factory installs the 2nd air conditioner it is ducted. If dealer or self installed it is not ducted.

I am not saying you cant get up there. I weigh 260 lbs. I can get up there just fine and inspect the seals, etc. I too installed two roof vent covers with no issue. I just did not stand on the roof. I did inspect the seals while I was there.
I did not find anything wrong and nor did I expect to find anything since my trailer was manufactured 4/4/17.
If a contest between the manufacturer and the consumer, what is in writing always wins.
They have to expect you to get on the roof to inspect seals, complete maintenance, etc. just not hold a jamboree on it I suspect.

I actually have a memo from Keystone assuring me that my roof is a walk on type. Don't have the email in front of me but will post it when I figure out how to do it. The absence of a ladder does not make a roof not walkable. I would contact Keystone. JMO

Be careful! I wouldn't take anything from Keystone customer service reps to the bank. They don't have the slightest clue; this after many, many conversations with them about everything from waste tanks, frames, tires, ACs, floors, etc. etc. If I didn't have a ladder I would make every assurance that I had support if/when I ever got on the roof. They don't have ANY answers and depend on the "supervisor" that's nearby....and they don't either. When I've dogged them about their answers it comes to an abrupt end or, in 2 cases, after threats, I was transferred to actual managers or technical folks.
