Indoor Camera Connections

There is a slew of cameras and options..WOW

I've got my WiFi situation inhand but now looking at the other options of devices to connect that I can monitor things internally.

It's great having advise from fellow RV Folks. Saves a lot on research time and cost.

I'm noticing most cameras want you to subscribe to a service (Ring, Blink,..ect.

Looking for suggestions on cameras (moveable)?
Subscription services or if I really need that?

Thanks

You mention "services to subscribe to". What kind of application are you looking to fulfill with this "camera selection" ???

If you're looking for a rear view, mounted on the back of the trailer type camera, then none of that applies.

On the other hand, if you're looking for some type of "interior camera" to monitor pets, thermostat, etc, that's an entirely different type of "camera system" than what is called for to be mounted at the "installed rear camera mount"...

So, what are you looking for ???

We use Wyze cameras for monitoring our house and camper when camping. The cameras are very reasonable and no fee tomonitor, but a fee is required to record to the cloud. They have several plans by the month or the plan we have is <$100/yr for an unlimited number of cameras. The cameras are available on Amazon or Wyze.com.

A friend of mine has a SimpliSafe home security system and he bought a second indoor WIFI camera. One stays in the house, and the other with him on the road. From what I understand, he doesn't have a monitoring subscription, but uses the camera as a standalone unit that he can access via it's own WIFI address from anywhere. Might be worth looking into?

We use a Reolink wifi indoor camera to monitor our pets. It pans/zooms and turns. It connects to our router and just plugs in. You can use one of the small SD cards or subscribe to cloud storate.

Arlo cameras

We use Arlo cameras for in the house and in the RV. All camera's are accessible from inside the same app so we can also check the house while we are away. There is a subscription cloud service which may be more costly than what you are after. The new cameras are found via the app on your phone and linked to the base with proprietary wireless not your WiFi for you PC's and Mobile devices. The base would get a wired Ethernet to whatever router you use. The cameras have IR as you can see but are color. One of the main features I like is the ability to add users to the system and only grant access to specific cameras.

Our son's been with Ring forever, so we use their gear. We installed a mobile unit in our rig. Color during the day, B&W (IR) at night, battery powered with a power connection that we ran behind the spice cabinet from an otherwise very inconvenient-to-reach kitchen outlet. You can set it to away mode or home mode (in home mode, you can't be viewed). It has two-way audio so you can reassure your pets if they need it. You can also "bleep out" certain regions (like the bathroom and the laptop screen) The only downside is needing reliable wifi in the CG, which we don't always have because we haven't yet found a cellular hotspot plan we like, plus we travel out west where there are a lot of dead zones anyway.
