1800BH bigger tire and wheel combo

Effectively I went from a 26” to 28” tire. This was a new trailer and as such there was no included spare. I wanted bigger tires and if I was going to get a new wheel I may as well not got with the size I don’t want. Getting wheels for free pushed me over the edge. Got the wheels for free from my friend’s old Baja Jayco he upgraded the axle on. He kept the same tire size and didn’t need the wheels… I’m worried about clearance on some mountain roads and making it easier to roll over small obstacles.

Stock was 205/75r14 and new is 225/75r15. Went with Chinese load range E. This got the axle about an inch higher and next will be flipping the axle to get the poop chute higher. Top pic is before and second is after. It was going to be a chore to find a bigger (16-17.5”) 5x4.5 trailer wheel and I’d probably have to wait on flipping the axle to prevent rubbing.

I couldn’t find any real videos or pictures on how to Jack a single axle trailer so I’ll share how I did it. I have a small slope in my driveway and consider hitching for more security it but was too lazy. Also I’d be blocking the sidewalk if I did. I had to use the second Jack to lift the axle before my bottle Jack would fit under the leaf spring perch. With the larger tires installed there was room for the bottle Jack.

I was going to buy them from Amazon myself and share about mounting them myself with balancing beads but I decided I didn’t have the time at the moment.
