Two RV's???

I find myself looking at truck campers, not to replace the 5th though. I get to thinking...just for me to throw a couple pair of underwear, flip flops, steaks, and a 6 pack and go fishing or a race for 2-3 days. No extensive food prep and packing, not packing every shirt I own, just back under the camper and go.
Our first RV was a cabover, back in the BC years...before children. Fond memories I guess.
Anyone else have his and hers?

Shopping....?

gearhead -
Methinks you have too much money, too much time, too many "man" toys, and you are thinking way, way too much.

Remember this? "What's mine is mine. And what's yours is mine too." Forget about his and hers. It doesn't exist.

Gearhead - I've entertained those same thoughts for years. In fact, we were shopping for truck campers to replace our old Class C when my wife fell in love with the current 5th wheel.

Not necessarily a "his and hers" for us, but I would really like the convenience of the truck camper, quick load and go, and towing snowmobiles and ATVs.

I'm not paying $60,000 for a truck camper. Maybe $14,000 for a very used one.
And yes, I have too much time on my hands. Grass is mowed, peas are picked, and the cars are clean.
Well, I do have a gun that needs to be shot and the garage needs to be mopped...LOL
Re-arrange the fishing tackle in the boat; again??

Maybe I need a job????

Two RV's???

Nooo! Spent money go to the races, fishing but a job? Tried that after I retired. Ended up that there was an uneven distribution of work load after a while. An old hand will out work some of the younger. Just the way it is, we don't walk around looking at our phone. No offense to the hard working young me it's just you are overall outnumbered.

If you've got the means and the time, go for it. Who knows, maybe your wife will want to some short trips by herself with it as well.

Two rv's...as a matter of fact...yes. 2015 TT 272 BHS and a 2001 Coleman Cheyene pop up. One is simple and for the guys when traveling to shooting matches and the other for family outings. I'm sure you can figure out which one is which...

I have had 2 truck campers while owning the current truck. Last a AF 990, yea the 35,000 buck type. I would get a older basic truck camper if one is found in great condition and still have the TT. Just for going with the guys on overnight fishing/hunting trips and taking the boat.

now this is funny because I have been looking at gently used popups. for those quick one or two nigher's at the local state park.
I found a nice 89 coleman for around $1K. NO ac, but it comes with a free standing kind OF AC?
I could buy today but just need room to store it. It would be hard to store at the house with the 5er already there under its shed, but I do have a friend with 8 acres of land i could store it there but then its out of sight and near woods and fields of hay. SO critters would be a problem with it stored and not using it that much. BUT we started with a tent and then a PU now I am looking at those again for some quick trips plus my two youngest kids could use it too if they would.
haha

Actually the post retirement work thing was perfect timing. It ended when oil hit $25 and I was tired of doing it.

Yeah Randy storage would be an issue for me too. I might be able to wiggle it in my fenced off backyard "junkyard".

DW has been asking for several years now, for a "cute" little trailer she can tow with her V6 Mariner to use as a mobile photo studio. I have successfully dodged the issue to date, but not sure how much longer. She hasn't been able to answer my one show stopper "where are you going to park it"?

gearhead, Howdy;

Sometimes it's not feasible to hook-up and go and where you want to go is
several miles up a Forest Road to an unimproved campsite (bare ground),
with, maybe, some tire tracks to show where the last camper set up camp.
As a fulltimer and not wanting to have to find the "sweet spot" when returning
from a few days of fishing up in the mountains. I decided to get a Cargo
Trailer and convert it to my Mobile Fish Camp. Truth be told I've not done
much with mine as finances got tight for awhile but that's about to change...

For folks with a 5'er, it saves having to remove the hitch from the bed.

oh NOW you've done it! Opened that can of worms on hitches! I love my Andersen Ultimate and turnover gooseneck ball!

5 minutes and 32 lbs of aluminum hitch lifted out with one hand, and I have a flat, clear, empty truck bed.

I have a TT to zip to the lakes where the roads are too rough to tow a trailer. It takes me less than a 1/2 hr to pack, hook up and I'm gone

If I ever find an Aristocrat Lo Liner that I can afford, there will be two trailers at our house.

Awww man, I thought I was the only one thinking that!! I just knew a cargo trailer would make a great redneck toy hauler. I had thought through a kitchen & table at the front. Couldn't decide if I wanted a A/C. Just use a quality fold-up cot for sleeping. Big issue for hunting down here is some kind of half door....screen on top for ventilation and a solid bottom to keep serpents out. Nothing like waking up with a water moccasin.
But an old cabover and my utility trailer would do the same thing.

I know folks that have his, hers, and theirs. Hers is one of those little teardrop trailers. She loves it.

A buddy of mine did just that to his cargo trailer. He travels to car meets selling parts and has converted his trailer to house him while there. After he unloads he's got a Drop-down cot, table and two chairs and a porta-potty. He even has a TV that he hooks-up some how. Not a bad little set-up and it didn't cost much.

I get to thinking the same thing at times. Sometimes I have company, sometimes it's only me. This past Spring I dragged 37' of 5th wheel over to Martinsville for me to sleep & shower in. Rest of the weekend is spent outside pretty much. Took too much stuff I didn't need to, but most of it stays in there all the time so it's there when needed. Life needs to be simpler sometimes.
