Infrared Thermometer

Want to buy DH an infrared thermometer to check tires (& etc) while traveling..... I found the one below at Harbor Freight, but open to other suggestions. Is it worth the investment to buy a name brand (more expensive) model, or not? Did a forum search -lots of suggestions for using one- but only found one "expired" link from a previous JRTJH recommendation. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have the HF $11 model. It seems to work just fine, is about 1/3 the size of the one in your link and fits in the pocket in the door much easier.

Also, if you're wanting the specific model you linked to, it is available (in yellow) at Sam's Club for $14.

I have the one Terri posted the link to and it works great. I like the laser pointer so you can see exactly where you are measuring the temperature.

They are all pretty decent. Just make sure to get the one with laser, makes it easier to see what you are measuring.

X2 If you watch for a HF coupon on this item or their standard 20% off coupon you can get it for around twenty bucks. I have used it for years around the house mainly with the furnace and as stated the laser beam is nice to spot items. Nice unit for the money. Never even thought about using it to measure tire or bearing temps. I would rather use my TPMS to monitor all tire temperature and pressure in real time not just when I stop. The TPMS with its alarm set points alert me when parameters increase or decrease out of range.

I have the one you listed from Harbour Freight, so far has worked very well, use it for a lot of different reasons...

This is the one I have and it works great. Resides in my door pocket.

I think mine is also that same one. Works great. Use it for lots more things than tires and brakes, too.
