Fridge Leaking When Sitting
Duh!? Well, of course, when the freezer is unplugged without power, the freezer is going to defrost. We camp about once a month, seven months out of the year. When we aren't camping, our camper is parked in a storage lot with other campers. We have everything off, and we crack the fridge. Our '23RKPR is new to us and we've had it on three trips this year. Of course when we have used it and park it, the freezer has about an inch of water in it when we hook it up for our next trip. We are surprised that there isn't a drain or somewhere for the water to go
. I've asked other Keystone owners on FB what they do and some say to leave the fridge on (we aren't close enough to our camper to do that really and it would definitely kill the batteries), and others say they leave a towel in the bottom of the freezer to catch the water. Any other options?

We turn the refrigerator off when we store the trailer. When we turn it off, we open the door to expedite defrosting, then the next morning, we put a towel in the freezer to absorb all the water, wipe down the refrigerator and freezer with dry towels, leave the door open so it "THOROUGHLY" dries, then use the "door stays" to keep the door just barely open.
If you put it in storage with ice buildup in the freezer and the door "swings closed accidentally" you're going to be in for a heck of a mess. That said, even with the door open, that water is going to cause corrosion to the freezer plate and hasten the "death of your cooling system"....
I'd only store it with the entire refrigerator clean and dry. Otherwise, leave it operating so you don't cause increased corrosion potential.

We do just about the same as John. Shutting down the fridge, defrosting, cleaning then prepping it for long term is a 2 day deal for us as we let the freezer completely defrost and get to regular temp.

We take a plastic putty knife and scrape out as much frost as we can before storing. Doesn't seem to be much water left after removing most of the frost.

We do like Max23, but leave a towel in the freezer to soak up any residual water. We only do it once a year since we turn it on in mid April and turn it off in late October. In between trips, it is parked on a pad here at home and connected to shore power.

It's not only the melting frost in freezer that's making water accumulate. If the air inside the camper is very warm and humid then the air will condense on the cold surfaces, just like a cold glass filled with ice water in the summertime. A towel inside works as long as you remove it when it becomes saturated.
