best TPM system without a repeater/extender

hello all-
I am trying to determine which system is the best that does not have to have a repeater or extender ( be honest I am a bit overwhelmed by the variety of products out there)

I have a 2021 262bh pulled by a 2021 Silverado 1500

I am actively trying to avoid having to install a repeater (Unless I can get one that is powered by batteries) to monitor

thanks

I use the TST507 and the repeater is wired directly to the battery terminals, very simple..

As Javi pointed out it’s very simple to install the repeater…black to negative and red to positive….use screws or Velcro to mount the repeater or a wire tie near the battery

I installed a small switch to disconnect the red wire but you can just disconnect the repeater when the trailer is in storage if not connected to power

Agree the TST 507 is one of, if not the, best systems out there. The repeater it very simple install, wires directly to the batteries with two wires (pos/neg). And two screws to mount it. I actually mounted mine to the wall in the battery compartment. If I had a travel trailer, I’d just mount it to the frame near the battery tray. Actually, with a 262, I doubt it’d even be necessary, but I’ve heard the new system “likes” it. I have a 40” 5th wheel and pull a trailer behind, I use the extender mainly for the sensors on the trailer which are a looong ways back there.

I installed my repeater on the battery box with a toggle switch with a weatherproof boot. The only reason I used the toggle switch was I had it and didn't have a proper sized ring terminal to use on the battery disconnect switch at the time.

Not a bad idea. I just used an open connector that I loosen the wing nut on the battery and pull the ground wire

I would recommend the TST 507 as well. The repeater is extremely easy to install and placement is very flexible. Takes all of 15 minutes.

I run the Tire Minder i10 and the booster is just hooked to the battery. Seems to work great for me the last couple seasons.

I have the Tire Minder i10 RV with the repeater's alligator clips landed on the battery terminals and it took 5 minute with the zip ties provided. I can disconnect the clips when stored to not bleed the battery. very pleased with it.

I have TST as well, but on my 2022 GMC it will monitor additional ones on your trailer. I was going to do this but TST was already on the trailer.
If I have to change tires I will consider exchanging, the monitor press and temp.

I have a TireTraker TT-600 with repeater that is wired directly to the battery terminals. It monitors the tire pressure/temperature in 10 tires.

I think that all TPMS "Repeaters" are similar. A small box with 2 wires that you connect to any 12 v power source. If you have a battery box toward front of the trailer that would be an easy install.

I am in year 4 of the only direct comparison test of two different TPMS systems and so far it appears they both work as advertised and provide no meaningful different information. The only difference other than external vs internal sensors is the length of the warranty. Most are 1 year and at least one is Lifetime.

Don't forget to properly program your system so you get a warning as soon as the pressure drops below what is needed to support the tire load. I have published in my blog my suggestion. ALSO I suggest that everyone test their system at least once a year. Also covered in my blog.

I use the TST 507. I bought it in 2016. As it's older it does not have the color display. I understand the new color display may be more sensitive.
I have not needed the repeater. In fact, when I put the transmitters on the wheels prior to starting a trip, I can read the information while the truck and display are parked in the garage
I'd give it try without the repeater and see what happens. If it works that's one less thing to go wrong. Either way a TPMS is worth the effort as many here have experienced including myself.

i was adjusting my air pressure yesterday with the tpms unit in my hand
i always assumed the unit would sound an alarm immediately when the tire loses pressure but in reality you have to wait til it cycles around to that particular tire position on the screen…didn’t notice till i took the sensor off with the unit next to the tire

I wired my repeater into the trailer's marker light. That way the repeater doesn't draw any power unless the trailer lights are on, and I always drive with the lights on.

No one can guarantee your wheel’s TPMS sending units can broadcast the distance and thru the rig, up thru and into your truck.
The TPMS battery just can’t power a more powerful transmitter. A small repeater attached near front of rig wired to 12V source boosts that signal. If you’re worried about parasitic draw then put a switch easily accessible near the front.

Another up vote for the TST-507

Easy to set up, use, and expandable.

The wireless aspect was great, didn't need the repeater.

I get false warnings with my factory truck sensor, that caused me enough concern the FIRST time while pulling I got off the interstate to check my TV tires....all were as they should be.

Got back in and kept on trucking.
Seems rough roads and torque trip it up, not sure, but I am going to buy 4 more sensors and just add them to this unit.

2 years now, work as new, batteries still working just fine.
