main door breaks due to friction hinge

Has anyone had problems with the friction hinges being so tight that the door breaks at the door frame?

Really hard to see what is broken. Perhaps another image that shows the break would help? Anyway, welcome to the forum and your questions with get more contextual answers if you put together a signature (under UserCP) with year, make & model of your camper and tow vehicle.

I think most everyone with the friction hinges have had, or will have eventually, problems of some sort, pulling the door apart as yours is doing seems most of the issues.
If it were me I'd find out how to disable the friction hinge then use some sort of adhesive & a big clamp the press the door back together.

I worried about it a lot. Someone suggested (sorry I cant remember who) the the hinge caps on the top and bottom could be removed so that 3-in-One oil could be dropped in there. This works very well!

Yes. [LINK]

Didn't break, just spread the door frame more and more until the filon popped out.

Had to get the entire door replaced and pay for the labor.

Lubing the hinges with silicone helps a lot if door isn't too damaged. Others should do this prior to damage developing.
