Right now it's cold and the roof panels are contracted. When the sun hits your RV and the roof panels expand, that gap will probably be much less than it is right now.
Stop and think how a laminate or vinyl floor is laid in a room. There's always at least 1/4" on all sides to allow for contraction/expansion with temperature/humidity changes. It's the same with your RV.
During the winter you'll see larger gaps between panels, in the summer, they decrease in gap size.
