Mattress Replacement

We looked at several different Keystone 5th wheels and found one thing in common was the King size mattress in all was pathetic. We ended up buying a Montana HC 345RL. Now we are wanting to replace the mattress with a comfortable one. My question is what type of mattress did you purchase where.

after 1 night on our "new" mattress, we threw it in the trash ... literally! I cut it apart and threw the material and meager padding in the trash then recycled the springs and metal after cutting it apart. It was so uncomfortable that I wouldn't try to push it on someone else, even for free.

We pulled a mattress from the house and put in the RV.

Ours came with the "upgraded" residential type mattress....hmmm. It was left at the mattress dealers to get rid of. We bought a residential mattress from Denver Mattress and couldn't be happier. Bought the first one but due to the lack of a box spring it was just too stiff (which I didn't consider) so they let us bring it back and get a softer one (they have a super return policy). Had to look through a bunch of them to try to find the best sleeping one that did not weigh 10 tons. Pulled the trailer around back at their loading dock, they came out, removed the old mattress and put the new one in...poof!

Left our mattress at the dealer when we bought our new rig. Horrible. It was a King and we have queen at home that suits us fine. SO, we go the local mattress store in our town and got a memory foam queen and I had to do some alteration to the platform and now we actually have some room to walk around the sides of the bed. Great mattress and we sleep like rocks on it.

So I have to ask, everyone that drove to the local mattress store and left their OEM mattress there and bought a new one... Did you purchase a standard king size mattress or did they have RV Kings available?

I had purchased a 15" thick pillow top queen residential at Billy Bob's Mattress in San Antonio about 3 trailers back and have transferred to our Cougar. It is the same mattress as the one we have in our house and suits us very well. It is about a foot longer than the RV queen originally in our camper which wasn't fit for a human so I took a scrap piece of lumber about 5 feet wide and about 4 feet deep and put it on the wood platform under this mattress so it didn't sag when you climbed on the end; didn't have to screw it down or anything and it works fine. Love the mattress and believe the mattress in a camper should be the same as in your home to make sleepy time as comfy as in your stick&brick home.

We went with the King RV sleep number bed, having the sleep numbers in our house has spoiled me.

We purchased this one,

https://smile.amazon.com/Classic-Bra...r=8-1-fkmrnull

It was a little bit bigger than the RV mattress, but it works and we love it!

Our mattress in the trailer was a full size queen, so we purchased a Sleep Number just like we have at home. Best upgrade yet.

We put our Tempur-Pedic king size mattress in. It just fits pout 2008 Montana but living full time in our RV it's worth the extra weight.

We bought a memory foam mattress and it was the best investment ever. Would like to buy one for the house.

We gave the new one away and bought a Leeza foam mattress in a box. Fantastic sleep. Wife wants one for home...

We have been wanting a new mattress for a while and this year we "pulled the trigger" while snowbirding in El Mirage, AZ. We shopped around a bit and decided the best combination of price and convenience was Camping World. They had samples in the store to try out and we decided on the 10 inch RV King for $629. They also had an 8" and 12". I decided to double check the measurements before I made the purchase since I could phone in an order for delivery, which would not be free.

I checked the CW website and I'm glad I did because the price was $160 cheaper online, no sales tax, and free delivery! The $160 price difference made it very competitive, and the free shipping and no sales tax was a real bonus! I cannot explain why the website and store have this price and delivery policy difference, but I seen an opportunity and I took it.

It arrived in a box about 2'x2'x4'. The mattress was folded in half, compressed, and rolled. My advice is to open it up and air it out for at least a day before putting it on the bed, because it a peculiar plastic odor at first. The fully open mattress is awkward and hard to move so make sure you have help bringing it into the bedroom. Of course, if you are not using the camper you can open it up right on the bed platform and air it out in place, making half the job easier.

LOL. Everytime I buy a new trailer I move the new mattress to the old trailer so the buyers can have a new, never used, mattress. Then I take my 3 layer foam mattress and move it to my new trailer.

We went with a Queen Size.... I cut 5.5 inches off of both sides of the OSB platform. Now we can purchase normal queen size sheets, voila!!!

Our Fuzion 345 bed size is an RV King (72" x 80"). Our replacement was from the internet company "Mattress Insider". We got the "8" Park Meadow Pocketed Coil RV Mattress II", and it is Soooo comfortable. Even better than our expensive Sterns & Foster in the house.
