Welcome to the forum! Lots of good folks with tons of knowledge here. You'll find Homosassa FL to be a nice place and worlds different than CA. From there you can venture to Clearwater one direction and Crystal River or Cedar Key the other. Might want to drop by Steamers in Cedar Key and have a platter of clams for lunch one day. I don't like their regular "sauce" so used to opt for a saffron cream sauce but that is impossible to get anymore so just ask for clarified butter. They can do clams right if you like them.

Congratulations on your success. we are from New Mexico but I know exactly how it is to be the little step child of California. Were at zephyrhills just 52 miles south of homosassa. The weather has been good and the people have been considerate of the thankful sightseers . Tampa is motorcycle friendly and friendly .

Welcome to the forum and to FL. We just moved from Indiana to Palm Coast in Sept, just about same distance south but other side. Love the weather!

Welcome!

We lived in Homosassa for a while (in a house LOL), and now we're down in the St. Pete area (in a Cougar). Be sure to go for steamed shrimp at a very unique hole in the wall called The Freezer, in Homosassa Springs! The wildlife park in Homosassa Springs is also very nice - underwater (natural) viewing of manatees and lots of fish. Rent a pontoon boat and tour the Homosassa River all the way from the springs to the Gulf. Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum and you'll like Homosassa . Hope you like kayaking as you are in a good area. I would add The Freezer and Tiki bar and a nice little drive to Pecks on W. Ozello rd for good eating.

From California to Florida! You just gave yourself a raise. No more state income taxes, no state taxes on SS. RV registration is cheap. No more of the Nanny State laws controlling everything.
If you like firearms & respect the 2nd Amendment you will love Florida.
Summers are a little hot and humid.

Chess a wiskey

Although I would not trade my home in North Carolina for anywhere else, I spent a good part of my youthful summers in Chassahowitzka, just up US19 from Homosassa. We would spend most of the day swimming in the cold, perfectly clear spring water, fishing or crabbing, or journeying up the river as far as the gas and our 5hp outboard would take us.

Beautiful country. Relaxing environment. Fond memories. It is a park now.

BTW--We pronounced it "Chess a wiskey." The natives may still call it that too.

Enjoy!

Been there many times yaking the "crack" and the seven sisters and on the way home eat at the Angry Gator. Good times

Welcome to the forum from upstate NY.
As we often like to say about NY, CA is a great place to be from.

FL left coast is a great place to be.
