Any suggestions on an airbag system? What works well? Set up options? Can I do it myself? Anything I should know before I spend big bucks?

I sprung for the AirLift 5000's with on-board compressor and remote control. I'm not into the "spending hours trying to understand directions/muscling bolts, clamps, tubes, wires" thing, so I elected to have it professionally installed which was also warranteed. I've watched threads here and on other sites where the more mechanically inclined and experienced have done it in several hours.

I had the bags put on for 2 reasons:
Minimize the "porpoising" and greatly improve the ride on certain concrete-sectioned paved roads, and
Eliminate rearend sag without using the Equalizer bars all set-up for shorter hauls and getting into tight/uneven approach sites.

The remote is a HUGE convenience!

Regards, BGood

I have the Firestone air springs and I had mine installed. I did not have the tools nor the patience to install them myself. I did not get the attached compressor. I figured I would need an air compressor for my tow vehicle and fifth wheel tires anyway. It takes only a few seconds to get them up to 30 pounds.

Yes, I installed Firestone Ride Rite air bags with on board compressor. I installed them when I was towing a TT to eliminate the WD, now that I tow a 5er, I feel even more need for them. It is no trouble to add air when towing & then reduce it when running solo. The installation was pretty straight forward, the entire installation including the air compressor took approx. 5 to 6 hours working alone.

I installed these as well except I did not spring for the on-board compressor...yet. I think I may eventually add that when I get more money, but if you can afford it up front, do it. I added mine for the same reasons. If you plan to do it yourself, get a friend to assist. I believe you can do it by yourself, but it makes it much easier and faster if you have someone there to hold things and go get parts when you need them. Also, dont forget to bring a torque wrench. I over tightened mine a little and you could see the mount bend a little. That's when I went back through the instructions and noticed the torque specs.

Tundra TV

I have a 2008 Tundra Limited Double Cab 4x4 5.7L with TRD supercharger, cat back dual and big brake kit. About 520 HP and stopping power to match. Pulls my Vantage 32FLS like it's not there except some higher RPM up steeper hills in tow/haul trans mode. This is my 4th Toyota truck since 1985 and it would be very hard to make me even consider something else.

I've had Toyotas since 1970, and in 1980, experienced my only Toyota warrenty claim. It was for an underhood cooling fan switch on my new 1980 Toyota FJ40 that failed after 6 months. That's 43 years of no warrenty issues--my 2012 Tundra is my Vantage tow vehicle also--just hope the Vantage is trouble free also because I've become accoustomed to defect free vehicles.

I own a 2007 Tundra Doublecab with 5.7L and tow a 2012 Keystone Cougar Xlite 29RES, added airbags to level out a little and help with the bounce like others. It pulls it great, this is my second trailer with the Tundra and an upgrade.

We just bought a 2013 Keystone Premier 19FBPR and towed it back from the dealers with our 2012 Tundra. Towed fine.

I tow a 2013 Springdale 282BHSSR. I just ordered Firestone airbags. My only wish is that I had the 5.7 instead of the 4.6. It does the job but it won't set any land speed records. Oh we'll it gives me reason to upgrade.

I also have a 2013 Springdale bhssr. Brought it home this past week with our 07 tundra 5.7. About a 25 mile drive with no problems at all. Did notice some sway as it was a windy (20-30 mph.) Other than that tundra pulled great with no power problems. This summer looking to go from PA to New England for 3 weeks. Excited for this snow to leave and some better weather to come.

We have a 2012 Tundra Doublecab with a 4.6L engine and full towing package. We tow a 2013 Bullet 248RKS @ right around 4800lbs. Pulls it just fine. WD hitch seems to help a bunch. Without the TT-17-19mpg, with-around 8-9. I haven't had a chance to tow outside of Texas yet, but we have enough hills here to give me an idea of how things might go on a trip out west. All in all, I couldn't be happier.

New Cougar X-Lite 31SQB on it's way

Waiting for delivery of our new Cougar X-Lite 31SQB. TV is a 2010 Tundra, 5.7L with tow package (4x2). TV was awesome for our last trailer (small Jayco 24FB). A little concerned about the larger trailer, but these posts help ease my mind a bit. I've got the old style WD hitch with bars and chains and old crank friction sway bars.

Thinking of upgrading to Equalizer. Same concept just a little easier hookup maybe.

Also considering an electric tongue jack. Any preferences with the Tundra? Will tailgate drop while attached to trailer? Looking at Barker VIP 3500 and maybe Atwood.

My Vantage 32FLS has an Atwood power jack. The tailgate clears it by an inch or so, but I'd be very careful if the truck is at an angle to the trailer. I dinged my TG on my boat trailer that way.
