Should this be pointed down?
So this has been bugging me since New.
Should the cord be pointed down? This just seems like a weird way to have the cord hooked up

It sure looks like it should be. Without strain relief, I would not expect it to last too long.
It looks like they turned the socket inside the housing. Mine is vertical, cord down with the lid facing the same way as yours.

Do a search. This issue has come up in the recent past.

Should this be pointed down?
My replacement cord goes straight down. The original one went straight out.

My last travel trailer went straight out, but it was 30 amp.

Ours was installed upside down. Dealership turned it for us.

Simple to reclock the socket!
I had the same thing but my socket was up just below the big window on the back of my 347FWLFT
I looked it over and fortunately I had enough slack on the wire inside to “reclock” the socket. I bought a 90 degree pigtail connector and it works great!
Just be certain that yo have enough slack so you don’t put stress on the wires.
Good luck!!
Hey Keystone it might take an extra 30 seconds during the training program to teach your installers to correctly clock the power socket. I know it may cost 25 cents one time training expense but hey a bit of extravagance here would be great.

My 381TH is exactly like that and I do have concerns about it also. How difficult is it to turn it so it's hanging down. And once you turn the receptacle the cover will be swinging open from the side. Is that right?

turning it is easy, remove a couple screws, rotate, and replace screws. The only question is whether the factory left you enough wire slack to change it without straining the wires. Mine was a little tight, but so far no problems. Regarding the cover, in most cases the cover is a separate piece from the plug, so you can rotate the plug without changing the cover orientation.
