Slide out tray?

Under my bunk there is a huge storage space only accessible from lifting the bunk mattress. I opened up the front and it's pretty deep. I was thinking of just putting in a cabinet door to access it from the front. I thought some type of slide out tray would make it more usable. I put in some bracing to add the cabinet door. Any ideas on a tray or a way to make it more functional?

It just had this flimsy filler panel in place, which I'll reuse for trim. Click image for larger version

I have a storage compartment there on my Bullet. Mine came from the factory with doors there. Never thought about making a slide-out tray, but that's a great idea. Currently we use a couple totes to store item in there and just slide the tote in or out when needed.

Slide out tray

Many brands, shapes, sizes of pre fab slide out storage trays. One example:

Happy camping.

We have drawers under our dinette seating. I guess it would be similar to that.

I have two under dinette areas like that, mine already have doors.

What I did was go to Wal-mart and get two rightly sized under bed storage tubs. In my case the tubs are about 6" tall and extend most of the length and width of the space and just barely squeeze through the door opening. Way easier than a tray and adequate for this purpose.

I got something like this tub and don't use the cover. If you look online there are loads of under bed storage tubs and boxes.

Thanks, that's an idea as well. I'll look into that.
