265SRK and 2016 Ram 1500
We bought a new Keystone 265SRK this week and are getting it prepped out for our summer travels. Tow unit is a 16' Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi, 8spd and 3.92 gears. Right now the weights are looking good although truck rear axle at 4400# is right at the limit. Empty weight of 2600# minus 4400# shows a pin weight of 1800#. That's with the trailer loaded out and me, wife and dog in the cab. I installed air bags in the coils and at 20 psi the rig is level. Pulls like a dream down the highway and handles uphills and down hills no problem.
GCVW is 13,600

You need to provide all your numbers like you did on the other forum where you didn’t like the answer.
Front Axle: 3040
Rear Axle: 4400 with
Trailer: 5740
Total: 13,180
Empty Rear Axle 2600
Your Truck CC 1830 According to you.
From the numbers above:
Trucks Weights 7440
Your Pin Weight 1800
Truck Specs from Ram….
GVWR 6950
RAWR 3900
So you are over you max axle weights and you GVWR.
The answer to your questions is you are way over your truck manufacture specs.
Now I see you went from a total of 13180 to 13600 so you are probably even father over your trucks specs.

Moved every thing out of the truck bed and heavier items I had loaded in the front trailer compartment. This took 200# off the rear axle. Mounted some LT tires this week so I'm feeling good with it.

LT tires and airbags or other suspension mods won't change the fact that you're overweight. You can try and spin it like you want but numbers don't lie. You really need a 3/4 ton to be safe.

Part of the confusion may be caused by the two different model descriptions of your RV. In the post above titled 295SRK and Ram1500 and in the post itself you refer to it as a 295SRK BUT in both your profile and your signature it is described as being a 265SRK.
There is a significant difference in GVW/weight between the two.
Which of the two models is the correct one??

My bad on the subject line. It's a 265SRK Laredo.

Congrats, nice 5er!! What does your yellow payload door sticker read out of curiosity? I had a 2014 Ram 1500 and was shocked when I saw the 1430lbs max payload on the door, otherwise I loved that truck.
Happy camping!

Well, I have to chime in here. I've owned 2 recent Ram 1500s and neither could pull a fifth wheel and stay within specs. In this case;
The trailer/truck; 10,000 gvw trlr. vs 10,150 -10,400 max tow.
Truck max payload: 1480 lbs vs 1480 dry hitch weight on trlr.
The specs I pulled are from the Ram website. There isn't a CC rating above 16-1700 lbs on any configuration I looked at. And from my experience with the 2013/2014 models that would be right. Maybe your sticker is higher for some reason...I've just never seen one nor is it listed.
Having done what you are doing; pulling a 10k gvw trailer with a Ram1500, I can assure you that it doesn't tow "just fine". It's just fine because you haven't towed it with a larger truck....I said the same thing. I upgraded my truck due to the reasons being pointed out; a 1/2 ton payload can't support a 10k trailer and be safe....just doesn't. You owe it to yourself and your family to be a little more open instead of popping popcorn, blowing off folks trying to help you off by saying...."meanwhile". If you only want to hear what you want to hear and don't want well meaning, worthwhile suggestions....why post?
Another thought; you state gcvw is 13,600. With a trailer weight of 10k it would indicate you have 3600 left for truck, occupants and "stuff". The last I checked a Ram 1500 runs about 53-5500lbs without people and "stuff". Again, way over.
Weights are just there; they are real. An individual can take them into consideration or not. They are there to keep you, and all of us, safe.

100% Agree
Been there done that, learned the very expensive way by going from a 14 Ram 1500 with to a 14 F-150max tow with 400lbs more payload and then still finding myself watching what I put in the truck and trailer and moving up to the 1 ton. That was with a travel trailer, I couldn't imagine dropping a 5th wheel into a 1/2 ton. Don't get me wrong 1/2 tons are great for smaller, lighter trailers they just severely lack in payload, you can't simply go by how the trailer "feels". Numbers are numbers and they are there for a reason, safety. This doesn't even take into account the factory weights are a joke and are nowhere near reality once the trailer is ready to camp. I'm not the weight police by any means but just speaking from experience on the reality of going from a 1/2 ton to a 1 ton and what a difference there is in stability, braking, etc. Maybe you will never encounter an emergency down a steep grade or when someone cuts you off and brakes at speed, but if it does you will in that instant realize what it means to be overweight and exceeding the true capabilities of the TV. Of course by then it's too late for all of those involved. If you're within specs of the TV then great, nothing more needs to be said but until you hit the scales to see the real world numbers (they will be eye opening), then you are just guessing.

I had a 2013 ram 1500 and had a whopping 1061lbs payload. Disgusted me so much I ordered a 2014 3500. Ram 1500's are horrible with payload. I didn't like it drove towing a utility trailer with two full size quads in it and a small quad in the bed. I can't imagine a trailer of any size being a good match for it. And air bags and tires will help the feel, but does nothing to increase the truck axle rating or gvwr.
