Reno to I70 via US50

Anybody taken US50 between Reno and I70?

You will be on "The Loneliest Road in America" Most areas where you
can get service are spread out about 50 from one to another. Until ...
you get to Ely, then you have about 120 to 130 miles of empty until
you get to Delta, Ut. an area known to the locals as Little Sahara.
The area is all High (as in altitude), desert. During the Summer temps.
will be up into the 105* to 120* range and nights drop into the 60* or
70* range. I think the Nv. Hiway Patrol only sends 1 car a day across
there to look for break-downs.
Once you do make it to Delta, the best way to I-70 depends on what
you want to see or do.

I'm planning a trip from Southern Ohio to Lake Tahoe with the easiest route. I've been on I70 to Denver, but no further. Was thinking about once I70 ends to take US50. Am pulling a big trailer.

I70 through the Rockies can be a challenge towing a heavy trailer. I don't think you will have a problem with your rig, but you may have to slow a bit climbing out of Denver and the approaches to Eisenhower Tunnel. Be sure to turn on your exhaust brake.

Sorry, the wording lead me to think you were going the other direction.
If you're dead set on going to the end of 70 then use Google Earth and follow 70 west from Denver. The first 5(?), miles are a straight up 6 or 8 % grade.
The Eisenhower Tunnel is some where near 13,000' or higher and that would be the high point (literally), still a whole bunch of ups and downs after that. So, be sure you have all of the fluids checked and the fresh filters the whole routine especially the brakes.
Generally speaking I tend to travel West on I-70 to Kansas City, take I-435
North to I-29N, A short ways after you cross into Iowa (exit 10),
get off, take a break at the Sap Bro.'s truck stop then head west on St. route
2. this will take you to the South side of Lincoln, Ne. Stay on 2 and it will connect you to I-80W. Saves about 130 or so miles of having to go up to Omaha then back down to Lincoln. Added bonus is you don't have to fight with the traffic in Council Bluffs, Ia. and Omaha. Stay on I-80 and it will take you right to Reno, Nv. When you get near Grand Island, Ne. you'll see a bridge over the Interstate, It's part of the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer. It was in the Jack Nicholson movie "About Schmidt".

One "Oh, by-the-way", maybe 2. Just after you cross from Ia. to Ne. you will (about 10 miles),
see some signs for Arbor Lodge St Historical Park. Where Arbor Day got it's start
When you get into Wy. and High Winds are forecast, (it's always windy there),
they mean winds that will knock over a fully loaded semi rig. Find a place to hole-up. If you
find the winds to be heavy but workable, you can exit I-80 at the West side of Laramie (exit 310),
and take US 30W. Only 12 extra miles but that's the route the truckers use on the 'windy days'.
How you decide to navigate Salt Lake City is up to you each way has it's own
