Mirrors blown closed

Has anyone experienced having your side mirrors blown closed by trucks while driving on two lane roads? I have extenders on the factory mirrors and it happens frequently. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Thanks

My tow vehicle that has the mirror problem is a 2014 ford expedition.

Do they pivot easily? I’m wondering if you can tighten the “hinge”.

I'm thinking "extenders" is the issue. Regular truck mirrors are designed to withstand the force exerted on them. When you add "extenders" you increase that force dramatically and they probably were never meant to accommodate that. That's why trucks come with "tow mirrors". Maybe you can upgrade to a more appropriate mirror/base?

Something sounds amiss. Are the mirrors power mirrors, do you push a button to fold them in or out? I've used a couple of different style of tow mirrors including the cipa tow mirrors on the 09 f150 King Ranch that were huge and never had that issue.

Maybe try replacing it with one from a salvage yard. Or try one of the Ford truck forums.
