Replacing Factory Hinges with Friction Hinges

I want to replace the hinges on my trailer's entry door with friction hinges so I can do away with the gas strut that holds the door open at a 90 degree angle.

I would like to hear from anyone who has successfully done this.

Where did you get the hinges?

Currently, the small bracket/mount that is screwed to the door that the gas strut clips into is loose and looks like the screws that hold it in place are stripping. Instead of repairing that, I would like to just do away with it and replace the hinges with friction hinges in hopes of getting a door that will swing more than 90 degrees open (what a horrible design flaw!!)

My travel trailer is Keystone Bullet 180FBS

Thanks!
Clay

I've read of people going the opposite route, removing the friction hinges after the door comes apart from the stress.

It would depend on how the hinges are attached. If it is riveted on, it would be easier. I’m wondering if LCI would even send just a hinge, I’m thinking they would only send a complete door assembly.
